was getting sick of TVDB not working so i upgraded server to .115 and nothing but locks up...(tried reboots, force kills) I've narrowed it down to .mkv files, if i do (Get Info) on .mkv... cover art does not change, and jriver just spins... if I then goto .mkv explorer location, and chose to play file i receive a... no program associated with it error from windows, upon going back to 103 then .mkv's play, all locks ups quit. but then tvdb no longer works.
-
hey guys, scratch my bug about .mkv (complete lockups/.115 being 100% inoperable for me)
the server ended up crashing on me tonight on .103, and then when i restarted it, it auto update to .115 anyway. and now it seems to be working without any hitches, so i updated all clients.
No clue why it's magically working now? i haven't done anything on the server since my original post.
Anywho, all good and up to date :)

Well I'm back, something is still crashing the server, was connected to server tonight with EOS, Sending to chromecast tv, and every 5-8 music videos, the eos/chromecast would lockup, then i remoted into server, and noticed the server had crashed, i cleaned the logs, then reproduced the problem.
would you like the log?

Thanks for sending the log. It seems like its crashing on one particular video file, unfortunately "Previous Log.txt" is missing, which would tell me which exact file it is for further investigation.
Did you remove the file, perhaps to reduce the log size?
If it helps finding it, the file claims to have the resolution 1519x733, which is part of the problem (because its such an odd res)
If you have the log file, you could try to check the end of it yourself to determine which file it crashed on, and if possible at all, share the file, or a part of it (through DropBox, SkyDrive, Google Drive, etc)?

Sorry Hendrik, yeah it crashed on my numerous times last night, so i thought since i hadn't cleared log in at least 6 months i'd clear it, then try to duplicate the problem so you guys looking through the log wouldn't be so overwhelmed (having to look through an extremely long log).
I found the file and added it (and the log files from last night...which you've already looked through) to the JRiver Support Dropbox link i created a while back. ( Which is shared with Yourself, Matt, and Yaobing) Dropbox shows sync'd on my end, so it should be ready for you to view on your free time.
Let me know if there is anything i can do to assist.

MC only keeps the logs from the previous two runs. Clearing it, clears the current log file. Don't modify the ZIP package generated by the logging system when asking for help.

What is your antivirus program?
Any recent changes in anything?

Hendrik already found it was crashing on a particular file, Jim.

I thought i read it in its entirety... i skipped Considerations, my apologies.
Resetting the Log
If Media Center has been running for a while, the Logs will get filled with a ton of routine behavior that can hide the problem under an avalanche of things to dig through. If possible, it will help speed diagnosis if you can Reset the log just before recreating the problem behavior. Clicking the Reset log link will reset the current Log.txt file and start over from that moment. The Previous Log.txt file is not impacted by this.
-
Whenever MC crashes, the log that is important is the Previous log. The current one will just show when you re-launched it to gather the log itself (which isn't very useful).

He said it in a way that I thought wasn't definite.

I'm using Security Essentials
ran scan... all good, no new updates since before crashes, and install of .115 (which was yesterday afternoon/early evening)

True.

Thanks, I got it, and it should be fixed in an upcoming build! (20.0.118 or newer)
Please let us know if there are still problems after the fix has rolled out.

I learned not to talk in too many absolutes, as people tend to like to nail you down on those. =p

I hate it when people quote what I've said before.

Will do, Thanks guys
