Title: Auto-backup library when using remote library
Post by: flac.rules on June 08, 2015, 02:02:57 pm
When using a remote library, the library is not backed up by MC, I think this should be changed, it is very useful to backup the settings of the program on a regular basis.

If MC is serving files to a client, the server copy of MC will do automatic backups.

Yes, but the server settings doesn't help you when you want to restore the settings on your client, the server has very different settings from the client.

Jim, I think the issue is that automatic library backups backup more than just the library, they also backup local settings.  So when clients stop doing automatic library backups, local settings changes don't get backed up anymore.  So if you make changes to zones, or DSP, or other local playback settings on the client, etc. you have to manually remember to create a library backup for the settings.

There was a thread about it a while back and I think the consensus was that there are workarounds, but it would be nice if there were a way to automatically backup local settings on clients.
