Title: Client not reading server playlists
Post by: rickeyjt on September 20, 2003, 05:52:23 am
My client machines do not pick up or show playlists I have created on the server.  I have used import media on the clients and have my music folder on the server mapped as Z: for all machines.

Should client machines just see everything on the server?  Or do I need to configure something?

Hi rickeyjt,

If you want to do this, you need to use Media Server instead of windows file sharing. With windows file sharing, you only share the files (and tags stored within the files), but not the rest of Media Center's database.

On the server machine, do tools->other(>)->Media Server and configure it.

On the client machine, do file->libraries->library manager and add your server machine.

A small drawback: changes made on a client are not saved to the server (yet).

Is this true for v. 9.1?
