can't say for 100% fact but it seems that when I have MJ running (not necessarily playing music but even in an active window) my system (P4 2.0 running Win98se with 256mb RAM) will eventually start showing the clock losing time and the music play will be in bursts of sometimes a second and sometimes longer. The cursor will freeze and any application will freeze and unfreeze - it seems that the internal clock just puases or something. If I don't have MJ up the problem doesn't seem to occur - or if it does is much more subtle. I have checked the performance tab in my system. Virtual is set to allow Windows to control it, and I can have 20-30% memory free and show this issue. For example right now I have Outlook; freecell; 2 IE boxes and MJ open and 31% free and I get those pauses and hiccups. I would ask the IT department to install Win2k but justifying by saying so I can listen to music ain't gonna cut it :P

If your running Kazza, or bearshare this may also effect it.
norton system works also will suck down some CPU speed.
but i would think the IT department would not allow any of them.

Are you running the latest build of v8? 396 is latest. Do you have WMP9 installed? Roll it back to v7.1 if you do. Post your sys info from MJ>Help>System Info.
