I want to share this because I know JohnT is really proud of both his sons. Adam is in college and Keenan is about to be. Both are at JRiver this summer.

Sounds like you've got a full office this Summer! Does that mean a Android media player in the future? If so the ARM version of MC might come in handy for bits and pieces.

Way cool. I am starting FFL (ie; Lego Robotics) with my oldest son this year in hope to get him interested in programming, making and introducing him to real world application learning vs. the 'how to pass a standardized test' education that I am seeing more and more these days. Can't wait to be working along side my kids on cool projects like this. Special times indeed! Thanks for sharing Jim. :)

... Does that mean a Android media player in the future? If so the ARM version of MC might come in handy for bits and pieces.

Thanks again for having us! We're still not sure about the final structure, but Keenan is making significant progress already. It's a little difficult without an IDE to compile in, so we're looking at options. Lots of trade-offs.

Android IDE? I've heard good things about AIDE and Android Studio.

In some ways kids are smarter than we were back then, but with all the hustle and bustle now days I would trade it for the good old days where we would put a nickel down and get a bottle of pop. There were no Walmart's, only a small town store with it's own butcher with meat hanging on a hook, and pickles in a 55 gallon wooden drum.
I'm ok with the Air Conditioning however.

Android IDE? I've heard good things about AIDE and Android Studio.
Android Studio works nicely, and the next version of Android Studio should also bring C/C++ support for native code on Android, IIRC.

Adam and Keenan have been making steady progess in pursuit of the goal -- a media player for Android.
They have ported enough of JRiver Media Center to be able to print random numbers on the screen. That's a huge step.
I know how proud John must be of them and their work. It's a lot of fun to see him helping when they need it.
I told them yesterday that I remembered hanging around the old guys when I worked at the bookstore where my father worked in Lincoln, Nebraska, when I was young, and how much I had learned there. I also said that it was really good for JRiver to have their young energy added to our mix.
Here's a picture from today. Adam is on the left and Keenan is on the right.
The top of John's head is just visible above his monitor on the left, and Matt's left foot is in the picture near the bottom. There is a plate in the right foreground that once hosted a summer sausage sandwich. Maybe from today.

John and the lads are off camping in Banff (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banff,_Alberta) for a week. I envy them.
