Hi there,
after many hours of researching and experimenting, I kind of give up. Last weekend I uninstalled MC18 in favor of MC20, rebuilt my entire movie library and set up my Media Network again (upgrading simply wouldn't work properly, so I made a hard new install).
I use my WD TV to watch movies and didn't have a problem with that whatsoever for a long time. Since MC20 I have the problem that I can't fast forward or "skip to desired" time any longer. When I try any of these the video (any video) simply jumps back to 0:00. Same is true if I want to resume a movie.
I tried all kinds of settings Options->Media Network-> Add or configure DLNA Servers but it doesn't change anything in regards to the problem. I didn't change anything with my media system other than reinstalling MC, no codecs, no change in network or network devices. etc.
Did anybody encounter the same problem or could point me to the solution?
Thanks in advance!

I had the same issue and now everything works wonderfully.
Try these settings.
bspachman posted these settings which work well on a WDTV Live. I am now able to fast forward and pause mkv files
VIDEO:

Format: H264-TS very high bandwidth stream auto fps
Video Advanced:
Enable: DLNA; DLNAExtra; Enable bitrate Field; Present Caption Resources;
Present Small Artwork; Present Subtitle Resources

Thanks so much, Daveman! You are the hero of the day - among all the many combinations I tried, I apparently didn't try this one (I certainly didn't delete the last two fields in Advanced Video either ...). Thanks again for taking the time to type all the settings. :)

Well, then thanks to both of you. :) Seriously saved me another few hours at least, and going nuts ...
