Title: Audio Settings for Onkyo - Help Please
Post by: AussieMark on July 17, 2015, 08:17:32 am
Hi All,

Hopefully those more learned that I can help.  So I just upgraded to MC21 from MC19 and I noticed that all of the audio is a lot lower volumes to where I used to watch.

I cannot remember the old settings and am wondering for my Onkyo TX NR906 whether I should use WASPI or Direct for best results.  The PC is decent enough running a haswell 5 I think.  Its about 2 years old.

Thanks in advance for all help given.

Cheers
Mark

MC has three types of volume.  Click on the speaker icon in the upper left corner.

Also check the Windows mixer settings.

Hi Jim. Apropos your "Too Easy" thread elsewhere: I often thought it would be a great feature if MC could output audio at fixed level (as it already can), but in that case rather than the MC volume controls (not) modulating the audio byte stream, they would instead command the receiver to change its output level e.g. by beaming I/R codes to it, or by sending CEC commands over the HDMI line.

{ Note: MC does already work this way when pushing via UPnP: where MC's volume controls also do not modulate audio byte stream but instead issue UPnP SetVolume() commands to the renderer by HTTP }

Any thoughts ?

It's a good idea.  Thanks.
