Title: Premium streaming services
Post by: wellywu on July 25, 2015, 01:22:48 pm
I purchased JRiver Media Center 21 64 bit master license and I successfully installed it on both my Lenovo IdeaPad Y510P and ZaReason Zeto PCs using Ubuntu 14.04.2 64 bit LTS GNU/Linux. I currently pay for Netflix, Hulu, Spotify Premium, Tidal HiFi, Amazon Prime, Showtime, and HBO Go. I was wondering if and when JRiver Media Center will support these premium and other streaming services within the program? Can you tell me if each one or others that I did not mention will be supported and when is it going to happen with which specific version? What else do I need to know? Thank you.

Netflix discontinued their public API and Tidal support was attempted but their demands proved to be too costly for JRiver to compromise, so neither will be supported. I'm guessing it'd be the same for Amazon Prime, Showtime and HBO Go. Not sure if Spotify works or not, probably not.

Tidal wasn't too costly.  They just wanted more control of our presentation of their service than we were willing to give.

Netflix discontinued their public API

I had heard about this a while back. Always sad when a company closes off open access to others, open access always seems to breed innovation and ultimately benefits everyone.
