Title: HTPC as Linux, host as Windows?

Linux noobie here,

Now that MC has a Linux version, can I run the host PC as the Windows version and the client PC (HTPC) as Linux?  Will the two still talk to each other?

Also, along those lines, can JRemote (Android) still be used to control the Linux version?
