Title: Windows 10
Post by: Tiborb on July 29, 2015, 02:09:28 pm
After upgrade Windows 10 from Windows 8.1 MediaCenter cannot run.
On display will be shown a message "Media Center was installed for a different operating system. Please Reinstall Media Center." Reinstall the program did not help.

Same here.  It's the very first thing I tried.  Hope there's an easy resolution.

How did you reinstall?  Did you grab the latest version from the top of this board?  We can't reproduce the problem here.

Resolved.  Just grab the latest and re-install.  Works fine.

In my case after reinstalling the latest version, I get a blue screen "INTERNAL POWER ERROR" on windows startup - it seems to crash on starting up media server (which I have set to start on windows startup).  I verified this by uninstalling media centre and the issue goes away.  Anyone seeing the same issue?

The Internal Power Error BSOD with Windows 10 is being commonly reported as caused by AMD GPU Drivers. Because MC accesses the video card, it would make sense that MC might trigger it.

There are reports from all over, with all sorts of machines (mostly laptops).

I've also problems with Windows 10.
I have tried instsalling the latest version, but still the message "....another operating system" is all I get...

Indeed, finally traced it to this issue, thanks for the follow up.  My apologies for jumping to conclusions!

Reinstall MC.

I tried installing MC several times, but every time the same problem - until: Went to the shortcut and changed compatibility setting to Windows 7. Still the same message. Removed the compability setting and suddenly MC started.
Now the problem is that videos are stuttering and have strange colors/stripes on the right side of the screen. VLC is playing the same files without problems...

When Win10 installed it probably installed generic graphic drivers - if you have a discrete graphics card (like NVidia or AMD) go to their website and download their latest.
