I upgraded my machine from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. Media Center now fails to start with the error message: Media Center was installed for a different operating system. Please reinstall Media Center.
I did completely uninstall and then re-install. Same outcome. :'(

Weird, I downloaded the latest MC build and re-installed and it works like a champ. Did you download the latest?
-
Someone else reported that reinstalling MC fixed the problem.

Same problem here...

I installed Win10 (Pro, x64) from a DVD. Details given, FWIW.
In my case, MC20 came up with a message saying that it was installed for a different operating system, and that I needed to reinstall. So I downloaded MC20 again, and did the quick-install. After that, it all came up just fine.
To improve the experience, I would suggest that MC present a different dialog box. If MC has downloaded an update, it should offer to start that with a simple button that would start the update (so I don't have to DL it again) and then kill the parent process.

It might help if JRiver puts up a "Sticky" to address this - as a lot of people are going to be upgrading this week.
It makes sense that MC would complain that MC is installed on the wrong OS. Since it is now on a "different OS" (you were running it on Win 7 or 8 ), so after you upgraded to Win10 - JRiver program says "what the heck?" when you restart with Win10.
