I have two iPod classics, 160GB. Until recently everything was working fine. Both were fully synced with about 22k songs on them. Recently there was a problem syncing one of them, and it only showed 11K songs. I tried re-syncing and kept getting errors. The other one is working just fine. So I figured, perhaps wrongly, that I'd remove the iPod from the list of devices, then add it back in, and maybe that would help. Unfortunately, I cannot figure out how to re-add...I see it in "Explorer" but it doesn't seem to know it's an iPod nor how to sync. I've rebooted both devices (computer and iPod) but am getting nowhere.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks

Try this:
Reset iPod (so that the apple shows on the iPod screen)
Make sure MC is not open.
Plug iPod into PC, and wait for PC to recognize iPod.
Open MC, let it find iPod, then sync.
When sync is complete, eject iPod from within MC19.
Close MC.
Then eject iPod from the PC OS.
