Title: jriver stops responding
Post by: bu13 on August 11, 2015, 12:43:56 pm
Hi,
jriver is installed on an audio dedicated PC, for a while now it stops responding (it happens when trying to play new song either by skipping or loading new playlist). I have changed everything OS (8.1), DAC, network connection, reinstalling and upgrading jriver, but the problem persists. Help will be appreciated.

I don't use JRiver on Windows.  But I've read a lot of advice here about JRiver being slow or hanging up and SO MANY times, it turned out to be a problem with anti-virus software.  So you have that installed?  If so, you need to tell it to not scan your music files.

This part of the troubleshooting guide talks about exactly how to make sure that your AV software works correctly with MC:

Good luck!

Brian.

Hi Brian, since it is a PC dedicated to audio, I have no anti virus from any sort on it (windows or other). Any more thoughts?

Did you change anything on the computer at the same time?

Are you using any other software with MC?

No, and no. The only software that is running is MC (this is a pure audio PC, not even a mouse or screen is connected).

How are you playing audio on that system?  Are you playing to a directly connected DAC or using DLNA?

From the Log, it looks like it might be DLNA.

Straight to a DAC. I control the app using JRemote or Gizmo.
