Title: JRiver on Windows Tablet - Bridge to NAS

Hi - I've tried searching through the various posts to get an answer to this question, which I'm sure is very basic!  Apologies for the newbie ignorance, but I've a very simple requirement - I'd like to use MC on my Win10 laptop to act as a steaming bridge for music from my NAS.  Specifically, I don't want to load my music on the tablet.  I've shared the NAS folder as a Z drive on my tablet, but I still can't see any music files from my NAS.

I'm sure I'm doing something obviously wrong, any pointers to the appropriate section of the forum would be much appreciated.  End goal is to install Devialet AIR on the tablet, and use it as the streamer to my Devialet 200.

I think all you need is to buy the app for the tablet called JRemote or Gizmo

and or I'm not sure if a windows tablet can benefit from DLNA....if it can all you need to do is turn on Media Server in MC on your laptop

I tend to agree with Tao:  With such a high end piece like the Devialet 200, I would recommend a direct connection from laptop to Devialet.  I'm guessing via USB?  Trying to stream from NAS to Tablet and then via Wifi to the DAC just seems like a recipe for inconsistency.  So a direct connection from the laptop; then use a tablet as a remote control for the laptop.  I don't think JRemote or Gizmo run on Windows Tablets though.  You'd need to buy an ipad, iphone, ipod touch, or android tablet to use JRemote or Gizmo.

I haven't used JRemote yet, but it gets very enthusiastic reviews; it must be pretty nice.  With the cost of your DAC/Amp combo, I'd think an ipad would be a very worthwhile investment, assuming it was able to control MC the way you want it to.

On Windows, you can use MC itself as the remote.  See the "Tremote" topic on our wiki.

Ken, are you using the same Windows username on both devices ?
If not, does your tablet user exists on the laptop and have access rights to those folders ? (can you browse those laptop folders from the tablet ?)

Sounds like you may have 2 problems.
1 Able to play music on your laptop with the music stored on NAS.
2. Use tablet to stream from laptop.
First #1.
Simply point your Library in MC to the z drive and directory containing the music files.

Probably need to use gizmo to play music from Laptop to tablet.
Have you tried loading MC on Windows Tablet?
I have it running on my Asus T100 and it plays directly from the NAS.
