Used Winamp for ages... couldn't find a better alternative until MC9 landed in my lap... 30 days and I was hooked.
Anyhow, some guys at work use Mac and have some stuff in AAC format... I can only play them in Winamp and unfortunantly, Winamp can't display the iTune tags either. :(
Is there a way to play the AAC files through MC 9.1? I also heard that the iTune AAC format doesn't have typical ID3 tags -- is this true?
Second question, I setup the media server (which I love!!!!) but I noticed I can change genre and 'rating' from the client MC9 (office computer).... will this affect my library on the server (my home computer) -- i'd like to let my friends preview some of my music but if there is a chance they'll screw something up, I'd rather keep it personal..
Thanks for all the support and community involvement!!! This program owns!

I am just here to welcome you to the club.
As for your question about the media server, I will leave it to people who are more qualified than me to answer it (as I never played around with it before).
As for AAC, as far as I know, MC doesn't support it ... yet (I hope and guess?). There's been quite a lot of request for support for it.
And once again, welcome to the lovely neighbourhood of MC. :)

Media Server can only read the database, not save changes to it.

Do a search for AAC support. The info you're looking for is already in a few threads...
Short answer: Yes, you can get MC to play AAC files.

huh? Link please! I haven't found that thread

You probably couldn't find it because you didn't change your search parameters to include older threads. Here's the link:

i tried Foobar before i found out about the MC ACC playback plugin and it sent my computer into a wierd 'loop'. couldn't shutdown --- in fact, it ruined the TOC on my firewire drive. :(
