Title: Room Correction and Bass Management question
Post by: Boltron on September 03, 2015, 08:13:22 am
I would like some advice on correct configuration for Room Correction and Bass Management with my new setup.

I have:

I would like to confirm that I have setup JRiver appropriately.

In DSP Studio I have set the following:
Output Format:

Room Correction:

My question then is are the above settings correct for both mixing (to 7.1) and especially for Bass Management?
My biggest concern is the LFE channel and the fact that I must set it in "Room Correction". I don't want JRiver to do any room correction at all other than route bass to the sub as I have specified.

Thanks

Your settings all look correct. The Room Correction DSP isn't doing "room correction" by adding EQ filters. It is for setting distances and levels of all channels as well as bass management.

After you perform the correction with Dirac, I recommend you do a final check of all speaker/subwoofer levels using JRiver's Audio Calibration tool. This is found in Tools > Advanced Tools > Audio Calibration > Volume Calibration. You need an SPL meter or Omnimic to measure levels. If levels are found to vary among speakers I would first make adjustments to targets in Dirac to see if you can get the channels at similar levels. You can also make level changes first in JRiver's Room Correction DSP and then take measurements and correction with Dirac to see if that will help.
