Title: Upgrade Questions
Post by: JimH on February 21, 2018, 09:55:09 am
Special prices are currently available on JRiver Media Center 24 upgrades.  You can upgrade from any previous version.

All licenses sold now are MC24 licenses that also work with MC23.

Please read Upgrade Help (https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,114521.0.html) first.

If you still have questions, please post them here.

Thanks.

I bought mine on the 18th so am not sure what I've got.

The licence says Media Center24 but when I hover the mouse over it the popup says Media Center23

Hi

I purchased a full license february 6th. Will that license include MC24?
Title: Re: Upgrade Questions
Post by: Hendrik on February 28, 2018, 03:41:13 am
Your license will say for which version it is, check your purchase email. We've been issuing MC24 licenses silently for about 3 weeks now, and it'll be another couple months before MC24 will actually be available.

It seems that the main upgrades in MC24 are related to video use.  Is there anything for someone like me who uses it primarily, if not quite exclusively, for audio?
Or would it be better for an audio user to upgrade to a later version that comes available?
Title: Re: Upgrade Questions
Post by: JimH on February 28, 2018, 06:19:44 am
MC24 isn't available yet, isn't built yet.  Every new version has something for audio, video, etc.  We never stand still.

You can wait until later in the year, to see what happens, but the price will increase.  The regular upgrade price has been $26.98 for a single OS.  It's $18.98 now.

Hi

I just have seen the anouncment of a new version, upgrade.
I actually have purchased the upgrade to MC23 before it was available.
I have not installed MC23 and now is MC24 for upgrade.
I guess the cadence is a bit too fast for me...

May however purchase the MC24 upgrade now...

Can I directly upgrade form MC22 to MC24 not intalling beforehand MC23?

Peter

Yes, the prior version number does not matter (AFAIK).

Do you plan on sending emails to all MC23 owners informing them about the early bird purchase price for MC24 like you usually do? I plan on upgrading tomorrow when my monthly check comes in but wouldn't have known about if I didn't occasionally lurk on this website.

Cheers,
Robin

I just upgraded to MC 23 in January.  You've stated you started providing MC 24 licenses about 3 weeks ago, slightly less than when I bought my upgrade.  Any chance for some grace where my license can be for MC 24?

Thanks

Hello, Do I have to upgrade?? I paid for MC23 and it stopped working after about a month. I could not get the G or F display to come up. I posted about it on the forums but never got anywhere. I went back to using MC22 and have had no problems. I don't think I want to upgrade for fear it will not work. The only thing I use it for is to rip my CD's to my library and download music from HDTracks and Acoustic Sounds. I also use the SD Cards I make in my Sony HW-45 and Pono player. Will I run into problems if I don't upgrade? Thanks:)

You probably need to install the latest build of MC23.  Earlier builds won't work with an MC24 license.

I have a MC23 master licence. Just upgraded to MC24 Master Licence. No problem installing licence to my Mac but on my Windows 10 machine it says 'Your licence file is for a different product'. I see you have replied to someone else with similar problems. I have reinstalled as you suggested to them with MC23 to 23.0.102 which my install said it was before I reinstalled/updated and I continue to get same problem. Please help.

Hello!

Today I got the offer to pre-order the upgrade to MC 24 at a preferential price. In the order or payment process you will be asked for the valid mail address and password. Unfortunately, I forgot the PW, the registration code of the MC 23 purchase is still available to me.
Nowhere I see a way to reset the PW and therefore I'm not able to go through the purchase process.

I would be glad, if someone could give me a tip.

Tried 5 times to purchase and failed every time.  Can you provide some instructions on how to fill out the form re: the credit card?  I had this problem last year and forgot what I did... use dashes, not use dashes?  Neither worked this year.  Keeps going back to Mastercard when it returns with the error.

This should be easier...
Title: Re: Upgrade Questions
Post by: JimH on March 02, 2018, 06:43:16 pm
It's probably a bank problem.  You could call them, but they may not be able to tell you much.

We get no information when the bank declines a credit card.

You don't need to enter dashes in the credit card number.

Paypal might work for you.

I have purchased version 22, purchased the upgrade to 23 and today purchased the upgrade to 24, but I still have 22 on the computer, I tried to install and it says I have the wrong key

And I seem to be very inept at searching your forum to find answers (source of the most frustration)

So I still have 22 on my computer and I do not know what to do!

May I install the MC23 successfully first, then keep the chance to buy the MC24?

A Master License can only be upgraded to another Master License. If you ever had a Windows license before from any previous MC version, you can use that to upgrade, any license from MC10 to MC23 is elligible.

OK, I found that I had a windows license for MC20! I installed it (MC20) and then it worked to run the attached registration-file from the purchase! So far so good! But should not the MC20 uppgrade to MC24?
Now I have an old MC20 with a windows license and a MC23 with a master license.

Hi-fairly new customer who purchased  Windows MC22 last summer (Great investment!)  Just this week purchased license for MC24. I realize that MC24 is not ready yet. I have been following this thread and am a bit confused. When saving the registration code I did get the  "Your license file is for a different product."  I wasn't sure if I just hold tight till 24 is ready or do I need to do something else.

Thanks for the help in advance. I have learned a lot on this board over the last year.

That's odd, something has to be wrong for the registration not to take and for it to keep prompting you. Are you changing system hostnames? Have the wrong system time set? Hardware changes? Something strange like that?
Title: Re: Upgrade Questions
Post by: struth on March 04, 2018, 05:45:09 am
nothing i can put a finger on. ive not changed anything on either machine. just bought the upgrade. im up to 15 emails now.

both pc's updated themselves on a restart as per often happens. im marked as fully registered etc. but i cannot really see why this would be connected as i cannot add a licence no to the program as it was already licenced at 23.
dont fancy this continuing until 24 is released tbh. can only presume there is a hiccup on the buy button sender. i have also checked paypal and ive only been charged once....so far lol

yes, they just go up in number. last one is no 16 of same email. ie  buy button 16

then media center 24 windows attachment with the huge number, which ive saved a few times. only thing that changes is the date.ie todays is 4th.. yesterday it said 3rd  etc. it is becoming annoying tbh.

I purchased Media Center 23 Master License less than two months ago (I can provide proof of purchase if needed). I am still setting up my multi computer audio control center and you asking me to pay for an upgrade??? Personally I think this is unfair. Two months ago you can not NOT to know about upcoming upgrade.

You are releasing new versions of MC so fast.

what we pay, if we wish to be up to date, seems to be a "subscription", but...

I work in an IT department and if I forget to renew any subscription to any software (Microsoft, Oracle, VMWare, etc.) I need to pay based on the years I forgot to pay.

The upgrade cost to MC24 should be based on the version we already have.  You are asking the same money upgrading from a 5 year old version or from MC23... it does not matter.

having purchased the MC23 licence a few weeks ago... it is quite a non sense to pay again to be up to date, according to me

so sorry...

Hello,

I just purchased a Master License for MC 24 (I had a Master License for MC23 as well. I was able to register it on Windows, but when trying on a MAC, it states "Your License File is for a Different Product". How do I get the master License onto my mac? (I believe some other members had the same question about installing on both Mac and PC). Help Please.

Thank you!

Dear JRiver,
Last night I purchased the upgrade to JRMC24 for Windows for approx $18.95. Today I realized I could use the Universal license option for $7 more (which I declined at the time of initial upgrade). Could I get this now for the $7 additional. And how to do this, as I can't find any customer support on this site or accounting department to take my money. I have my JRMC24 install key, as well as my personal info, but it doesn't seem wise to publish this on a very open forum. I have no idea if this thread is the correct place to even post this.

Can someone out there in the JR cloud please let me know. Registered user as: ldj325

Thanks,

Laurence

Try installing the latest build of MC23 from the MC23 for Mac board.  Earlier builds don't recognize the MC24 license.

yes, they just go up in number. last one is no 16 of same email. ie  buy button 16

then media center 24 windows attachment with the huge number, which ive saved a few times. only thing that changes is the date.ie todays is 4th.. yesterday it said 3rd  etc. it is becoming annoying tbh.

not had any more emails, so if anyone did something, then thanks.

Just purchased the MC24 window version yesterday, problem getting it installed.
I have the MC22, not the MC23, would that pose a problem ?
Should I get the MC23 version first then install the MC24 ?

MC24 for Windows will be available as both a 32-bit build and a 64-bit build, so both will be available. The upgrade will include either one you want to use too.

You need 23.0.102 or higher to use an MC24 license.  If it's already licensed, just wait for MC24 to be available.

As best I can tell it did not.  When I click on the .mjr file I get wrong version.  Currently running 23.0.102 on Windows 10.

I bought a license of MC23 on Jan 26 and paid full price of $49 I was upgrading from a previous version. I  thought I that I would  be getting a discount since I was not a new user, but that was not the case . Now less than two months later there is a newer version of the product being announced. I feel that I should have been made aware that I could wait for another month and then be able to purchase the next version, specially since you state in your announcement " you can buy MC24 now and get a discount from any previous version of Media Center". I feel I would be paying a double upgrade price now if I wanted to go to MC24.

The process should be:
Download and install MC 23.102.
Restore your license.

But if it already had an MC23 license, it might not install the MC24 license.

I've just purchased MC24 for the update price Thank you. I note it says when trying to install that its not compatible with my previuos version license type meaning I must have accidentally purchased a full license even though I don't need or want that as I only have windows installed. I note that you say that MC24 is compatible with all versions of previous versions of MC. I also note that during the buy process one has to give a version of a previous version license code, why at that point if the license I'm trying to buy, don't you warn us its not compatible instead of waiting till after one's completed the purchase then finding out.
So now what do I have to do? Cancel my payment via my credit card, or do you see my "mistake" and require me to buy another license for a not wanted full license and how do I get a credit for the first purchase please?

My last version of Media Center is a MC22 Master License. Since Media Center on the QNAP appears to be a dead end, I decided to upgrade to MC24 Windows. Registration key says its for a different product.

Looking through this thread, it seems I needed to install an older version of MC Windows so I installed my registered version of MC21 Windows. Registration key for MC24 Windows still says its for a different product.

You are correct, sir. The Registration Codes had been relegated to my junk folder. I apologize for wasting your time addressing what should have occurred to me.

1) The email says that the first thing that I need to do is to install the "correct" version of MC first, with the link taking me to a download of MC23. Does this mean that I must have MC23 installed before I can advance purchase MC24? I would really rather not bother with this step if it is not absolutely necessary.

2) The next link is for "older" versions. Why would I need to be concerned with older versions if MC23 (or the latest version) should be installed first as part of the process of reserving the upgrade at a discounted price? This confuses me.

3) Is there a way that I can purchase in advance (at the discounted price), MC24 and deal with the various installations and license recoveries at some future time when I have a couple of hours to do so? I just don't have the time for this tonight given more pressing responsibilities.

Here is a copy of the instructions that were sent to me  (with my codes removed, of course):

Install the Correct Version First

You must install the correct version of JRiver Media Center first and then restore your license.  The latest version of JRiver Media Center is available on our download page:

Older versions are available here:

https: ...

Then Restore Your License

More information is here: https: ...

I sense that some patience is being summoned to deal with my questions; unfortunately, in spite of a technical engineering career spanning >30 years, I am confused.

Kmmcd, if you have a Windows licence currently, purchase the MC24 Upgrade using this page: https://jriver.com/purchase_24_as_upgrade.html

If you have a Linux or Master licence, use the links on the first post in this thread: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,114521.0.html
Those are the same links / web pages as were in the Pre-order email.

You will need the registration code from your MC22 purchase to buy using those links, which it seems you now have in the email you found.

Once you have paid and received the email from buy-button at jriver, with an mjr file attached, you don't need to do anything else until MC24 is available for download. Job done.

just purchased the MC24 Master License upgrade.

Is there any reason to use that license for an existing MC23 installation or just keep it handy for when MC24 is released?

cheers

Not if MC23 is already licensed.

Jim can you make a clear statement of what benefits I would experience if I were to upgrade my Master licence from 23 to 24? I use Windows and Raspberry Pi to play media and an Ubuntu server. The posts seem more concerned with the logistics of deployment or installation than they are with what JRiver has done to justify further expenditure.

Suggestion.

As I told in the past, I work as ICT manager in  big company and we buy software from any vendor.
There are several license models but at the and of the story we are talking about buy license, rent license, subscriptions, maintenance, etc.

I see that JRiver releases a new version each year, more or less
There is a discount if you upgrade from a previous release
The fee for the upgrade is the same upgrading from a very old version or from the previous one.
Etc.

In my opinion, I would suggest JRiver to offer an annual maintenance fee that will let you to upgrade, more or less 20% of the cost of the license itself.
I buy the licence for MC100 in year-0 for 50$... if JRiver releases a MC101 during year-0, then I have the right to upgrade
In year-1 I can avoid to pay additional fee, but I do not have the right to upgrade
In year-2 JRiver release MC102, I can upgrade paying the maintenance ( 20% ) for year-1 and year-2 so 20%+20% = 20$
and os on
In any case, JRiver must fix problems on any version without additional fee, for 5 years.

I purchased the MC24 upgrade, and thought I had installed the license however when I click the present version ->check for upgrades i get the message that 'a newer version is available at a special pre-order price'. does this indicate that I need to take additional action to receive MC24 when it is available?
thank you.

Well, I did upgrade to 23.0.102 less than two months ago but was not advised of a new version coming.  And now I get this message about a new version available "at a price".  Somehow it seems you've adopted the Microsoft slogan "software as a service" and taken it a bit too far.

You purchased an MC23 upgrade three months ago.  It's good indefinitely.

By the time MC24 begins to appear, it will have been five months.

I'm sorry, but we have to draw the line somewhere.

I Have jriver 23 on 2 win10 machines & 1 win7 machine.  I purchased the upgrade to jriver 24 on March 1.  Today my jriver still shows ver 23 on the help->about page on all 3 machines.  i understand the upgrade won't come out for another 2 months but I am now getting the popup when I start jriver that tells me a new version is available for purchase. How can i tell if my pre-purchased license has been applied to all 3 machines?  I just went thru the license restore process and 2 machines (win7 and win10) say the license was installed but the 3rd machine (win10) says the license file is for a differnt product.  All are on 23.0.102.

In future, you don't need to do a licence restore on each PC. Just save the mjr file that is sent with the buy-button email, copy it to each PC, then double-clicking on it will install the licence. The mjr file is valid for 14 days after it is delivered. Much faster, more reliable, easier, and doesn't use up a MC Restore.

... but the 3rd machine (win10) says the license file is for a differnt product.  All are on 23.0.102.

You could be having a problem similar to the one I described here: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,114872.msg794447.html#msg794447

I just purchased a Master License for MC 24 (I had a Master License for MC23 as well). I was able to register it on Windows, but when trying on a MAC, it states "Your License File is for a Different Product" (referring to the mjr file).  How do I get the master License onto my mac?

Purchased the 24 upgrade, so tried installing 23 over 20 which is the original version i purchased. Didn't bring all libraries or settings over to the new version so I reverted back to 20. I thought an upgrade from 20 to 23 would be pretty straightforward.

I also upgraded from 20 to 23 and it installed without any problems at all. Lucky thing too since I don't have a MC backup but use file copies (made with Windows Explorer) on external hard drives.  Not very practical to be sure, but very secure.

This brings up an related problem:  sometimes MC does not "see" perfectly good audio files.  They simply don't appear in the library and right-clicking on the file causes an error message, not playback.  Could be a problem with the file management function somehow.  Updating ID tags (for instance change disc# or some other meaningless change) fixes the problem and the file appears again the library.  Foobar, on the hand, never had any difficulty playing the "missing" tracks to begin with.  Likewise CUE files, they seem to disappear with alarming frequency for no obvious reason at all and that whole album will be missing from the library.  And let's not forget the unfortunate Microsoft action a few years ago that made WMA Lossless files inaccessible.  Personally, I converted all my WMA files to APE and hope they will "always" remain available to MC for playback.

Let this serve as a warning not to rely on MC backups, because files not recognized in the library will obviously not be backed up.

OK.  I have gotten rid of all the older versions of JRiver MC on my PCs.  However when I open MC I still get that little message in the Action window that tells me there is a newer version available for purchase. That makes me think that my MC does not realize I have already pre-purchased the newer version. Why am I still getting that message and/or how can I check that I am validated for the V24 when it becomes available?  Thanks.

Hi everybody,

A freshman user here, quite pleased so far w/what MC offers, also for a fair price. Two remarks at this point.

One toward the advancement of 'JRiver Inc.' so to speak:
IMO the software could convince many millions of users more by being less tech-savvy oriented and more intuitive in setup. I mean, there's plenty of audiophiles who are apt at the digital way of life, but i guarantee you there's ten times as many audiophiles who would like to use a music server the way we use our car: just turn the key and drive away. No need to know how the engine functions, or the suspension, just where the gas station is and some basic traffic rules...
Some tree-style diagrams in the user interface would already improve the learing curve, and many small details could make building a library less time consuming. Important issues to exactly the kind of public that would appreciate a music server to begin with.

The other is, i feel a bit awkward about seeing an upgrade available i have to pay for, the very first week after i purchased my master license, which a didn't even wait the thirty days for to decide. I just went right ahead and thought to get my license before investing all this time in learning to work it and in setting up and ripping a 10.000 item library (for starters).
I understand upgrades will always cause some kind of divide, but i'm a bit sorry i didn't sit out my thirty days now..

Anyway, nice to be here and see y'all occupying yourselves w/the advancement of great (computer based) audio. Will probably be back before long to stalk you w/my learning curve. Cheers!

Yuri, from Amsterdam (where they put mayonaise on their fries, yuck!)

That’s not a very fair way to treat your loyal customers. Am I missing something here?

According to the email I just got, it’s 12 dollars for a new purchase of MC23 and a free upgrade to MC24. And then it’s 20.98 for a Windows upgrade for previous users.

What am I missing?

EDIT: I was confused. It’s 12 dollars savings. Not 12 dollars total. My mistake.

Hi Jim,

Tx for your prompt reply!

So i do have a 24 license already? I missed that! The program says 23.something or so. Didn't notice my license says something else.
That makes my statement that JRiverMC is a really fair priced proposition even truer. Very happy about that and sorry to bother you based on false intel.

Indeed did look at 'getting started' and also at a LOT of other stuff by now, it's just a bit much and also perhaps my own system parameters (number of interoperable devices) are a bit extensive.
Gonna be studying MC for the next couple weeks and try to not bother anyone before getting myself well informed.

Night time now down here, tx&later!

well install MC23 and restore a most current back up from MC22 and see what comes along...I'm pretty sure if you have not installed any specific plugins you should be fine....just make sure MC22 and it's server is not set to start up on boot as you don't want both MC22 and MC23 running at the same time (though this is possible)

I was tempted to buy the master license because it was said in the forum that MC 22 is also licensed under license from MC 23. I have a QNAP HS 251 and a trial version of MC 22 installed. After 3 attempts to license the software with my masterkey I stopped. It does not work. Unfortunately, I can not find an MC 23 for QNAP. Could you please send me a free key for MC 22, so that the purchase of the master license was worth it for me?

I previously had a Windows only license but decided to upgrade to a Master licence as I recently built a Linux Mint machine. However, while the new licence works fine on my Windows machine, when I try to install it on Linux Mint I get the error "Your licence file is for a different product".

Now, the latest Linux version is 23.0.80, but apparently I need 23.0.102 for the new licence key to work?? Is that correct? If so will a Linux version of 23.0.102 be available soon?

Separately, having installed the Master licence on my Windows machine, why does the Help menu still bug me with "Upgrade to Master licence..."

Thank you.

I've messed up, I paid for a new Mac license today (already have a Windows MC20 license)and I've started having compatibility issues with my Chord Qute EX DAC producing white noise when switching between standard and high def file formats. I used the trial and tested the high res stuff, it just seems to be a problem when switching between different formats and it's caught me out,

Unfortunately Chord just abandoned support for this DAC on the Mac.I've already had to roll back to Yosemite to get the driver to work.

To improve stability I'm thinking about installing Windows on my Mac mini and should have purchased the master license. I've only just seen OM's comment as that would have been useful to know.

Do I have any options to get the master license?

Hmm, I thought 104 was supposed to stop those messages if an MC24 licence was installed. But I have no way of checking.

If you installed the licence by entering the Registration Code, you could try installing by double-clicking on the MC24 mjr file you received by email.

Otherwise, you could turn off automatic updates until MC24 becomes available. I think that stops the messages.
Title: Re: Upgrade Questions
Post by: Bohemian on April 01, 2018, 06:59:19 pm
I initially installed by entering the registration code and when I continued to get update messages, I installed by double-clicking the .mjr file I had saved.
Both times a pop-up informed me that installation was successful.

The .mjr file is Media Centre 24 Windows - 419446.mjr if that helps.

I shall turn off automatic updates for the moment, but I wanted to be sure that the upgrade had been registered as having been paid for, when MC24 becomes available.

Thanks.

I'm currently running MC16, do I need to install MC23 first in order for this to work?

Same here.  I've updated from a 23 master to a 24 master and I currently have 64bit 23,0,104 installed but I also receive "A newer version is available at a special pre-order price."

If I just need to relax and be patient I will be.

Sorry if this question is redundant.
I have MC 22 and wanted to upgrade, so I purchased a license for MC23 earlier this week for $20.98, but it seems as if that license was also valid for the MC24 update.  I didn't read my email right away.  Instead when I went to JRiver to listen to music, I received the message that a newer version was available, so I purchased an additional license for $27.98.  Both emails say they are valid for MC24 when it becomes available.  I only use JRiver on one computer.  Did I need to buy both licenses?  If no, is there any way I can get a credit back?

This is rather a general upgrade question I have for every upgrade of every product. But I have never figured out the right approach. Should I delete the previous version before installing the new version? I don't expect an answer for any other product, so I'll be specific. Should I uninstall MC23 before installing MC24?
Thanks, Bill

Special prices are currently available on JRiver Media Center 24 upgrades.  You can upgrade from any previous version.

All licenses sold now are MC24 licenses that also work with MC23.

Please read Upgrade Help (https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,114521.0.html) first.

If you still have questions, please post them here.

Thanks.

I bought a license for MC24 (for MAC) in March at a special price, I had a MC22 license for MAC. I downloaded MC23 (for MAC) and then MC24 (for MAC) as soon as available but neither of them accepted my license. Now the trial period for MC23 has expired. I do not understand what's wrong.
Sorry for my language but I am a foreigner.

Figured it out all by myself!! Thank-you one and all! Always a good day when I learned something new!

I hope this section is where I can get some assistance - I recently purchased a storage device (PC) with JRiver installed (ver 20.01.13) from an acquaintance who wasn't using it anymore. (That being obvious by the version).

What I'd care to do is upgrade the version to 23 and use this unit for my bedroom system.

How can I re-register this new-to-me device with my registration? (I have a Master's Licence.)

I'm not exactly Mr. Smart With Computer guy so be kind with the tech talk in response - please.

uninstall it and install the version >Your License Is For< then you can upgrade at your will but I think ver 24 is what is on the block now...that being said....if you just purchased a used pc it's a good idea to reinstall the OS now, to avoid issues that may pop up in the future, and to make sure your restore discs are in order. I hope you received the restore or original OS discs!

If it still won't open uninstall, reboot pc and install the current version here

once again have your key in the copy & paste method....

Hello:

I am currently running MC 21 on Windows 10.  I have purchased MC23 and have a registration key but have not installed it yet.  I would like to upgrade to MC24.  Several questions:

1. What is the current upgrade price?

2. How do I tell if my MC 21 is the 32 bit or 64 bit version?  I would like to use the 64 bit version when I go to MC 24.

3. What back versions of MC do I need to install before MC 24?

How do I tell if my MC 21 is the 32 bit or 64 bit version?

MC21 is 32-bit only. There wasn't a 64-bit build for Windows until MC23, which matured with MC24.

None. A MC21 backup will restore directly into MC24 no problem. It doesn't matter if either is 32 or 64bit.

I just went through the upgrade master process. Confirmation email came back with a Media Center 24 Master with a download link titled as that. Clicked it which brought a 2k file. Thinking it would be a link to the proper download file gave me a "license for media center successfully installed" and a browser page that opened to "Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@jriver.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log."

Now I have MC 23 Master with MC 24 Master license.
Would anyone know where the proper limk to download the appropriate MC24 Program file?
Will I need to run the licensing again once the upgrade has happened since the MC24 license has already been installed?

Appreciate your help with this.
Thank you in advance

Hi

I have been using JRiver several years on windows. My windows machine died  today and I am now moving to a Mac

Today, I tried to upgrade my MC23 license to 24 and got timeout pages (both from my wifi as from my cellular iPad) with different browsers
I tried Mac upgrade with my license #, master upgrade, and even windows upgrade, hoping to later upgrade to Master or swap to Mac. All upgrade
links end uo in page not available / time out

What is the easiest way to upgrade my MC23 Windows to MC24 Mac or Master?

Thank you

Hi,

I'm having trouble upgrading to MC24 on Mac. I bought a Master licence upgrade but can't seem to download MC 24. I get a message saying Access denied.
When I click on the licence it says it's not for the right product.

In MC 22 whenI go to Registration info it says "Master Licence". That's why i purchased the Mater licence upgrade. I'm not sure I have a master licence though. I used to have it on Windows and Mac and had a master licence then. It is possible that my actual licence is for Mac only, since I don't use it on Windows anymore, but i'm not sure.

I will need help.

How can we fix this?

I don't mind paying for the price difference if any.

Thanks for your help.

BTW, I find it difficult to get support for this product. I couldn't find my messages or replies until I went to My messages/reply. It's not exactly user friendly for someone who is not used to using the forum. And there does not seem to be a different way to get in touch. There must be people who give up before succeeding.

Hi,

finally I'm willing to upgrade  :D

But: I am asked to write down a password, name, address, etc. What is this for? I am logged in into the forum already. Do I need a second password for something else? Did I enter one when I purchased my first license? I can't remember that. Plus: I changed my mail address since I bought version 20 years ago. Should I take the old mail address, so JRiver recognises me?

Hello JimH

I really want to make sure this all goes through on the next attempt.

After hitting that link will I need to get another restore license to complete the upgrade?

I've already wasted some on the first session that I tried to do the update. My hunch is that there are a set number of these restores per purchase. Correct?

How many passwords are used on your site?
It seems like there will be one for the 24 update and another that's used for regular sign in.

Hi,

I recently bought an upgrade from MC23 to MC24 and installed it on my HTPC which runs Windows 10 64 bit.  I also have a laptop using the same OS, with MC23 23.0.104 64 bit.  I tried to install the upgrade on this and couldn't get it to work.  I tried a licence restore to see if that would make any difference, the message says the licence was successfully installed but the program is still showing as MC23.  On the HTPC, everything was automatic once I'd got the install key i.e. it found the libraries, all the artwork and the HD Homerun with the stored channels.

Don't think I'm doing anything wrong but it wouldn't be the first time  ::)

Thanks Jim,

I was checking through the restore info on here and found something weird.  The version I successfully upgraded to MC24 on my HTPC has a given Registration Code which I understand should be permanent and unique to me - the emails from the buy button earlier in the year shows the code.  The version of MC23 on my laptop seems to have a different Registration Code which I discovered when reading through the email from the restore I tried to do last night.  Just to add to the complication, the original upgrade and install key was done on the 30th November so may have come to the end of its 14 day validity last night, but can't be sure.

So I'm not sure what to do now.  Should I install MC24 on the laptop, restore the licence using the Registration Code I know worked in November and get a new MC24 install key, or will this cause confusion with the wrong Reg Code which seems to be stuck on MC23?

I've no idea how I got 2 codes so would welcome a bit of info on this too please?

Hi,

I purchased a license upgrade (from MC20). I then downloaded / installed MC23 (last build available from old versions page). The install process completed successfully incl. MC20 library import. MC23, however, does not accept the new license, saying the registration code is only valid for a different version. I know I can easily resolve by installing MC24, but I would prefer to stick with MC23 for the time being.

Any ideas / help?

Regards

It won't work for MC23, it'll only work for the latest build of MC24.
