Title: Repeated crashes - MC23 / ubuntu 17.10
Post by: tlenthe on March 19, 2018, 10:20:25 am
MC 23 consistently crashes after 3-10 minutes.   MC log file attached.  System application log consistently reports error:  "mediacenter 23 : Third Party/CxImage/tiff/tiff_jpeg.c.648: JPEgSetupDecode: Assertaion 'sp->cinfo.comm.is_decompressor' failed".

Hardware is AsRock Z370 mb, 16GB ram, 32GM Intel Optane SSD, Intel i3-8100 (gen 8)
Multi tB music library (>250K tracks/files) accessed via NAS - no network latency problems

Further clarification.... Only occurs when scanning library either in background or intentionally.  Turned off automatic scan in background and crashes seemed to stop.

Usually just look at the bottom of the log, it indicates what MC was last doing. In your case, it was trying to thumbnail this:
/mnt/TedDocuments/Documents/Scans/2014-01-21/Tax Bills.tiff

Not sure why you have MC indexing your Tax files, but either excluding those folders from being included or moving that file specifically might stop it.
Usually we would ask for a copy of the file to see that we can fix the problem, but tax files.. really? :D

oops!  Thanks!  I'll have to tidy up my library directories!
