Title: What happens first, resampling or convolution?
Post by: Mister Cool on September 25, 2018, 01:21:48 pm
In DSP option I have the possibility to resample all incoming music to a fixed sampling rate. On the other hand, MC suports the automated switching between various convolving filters, that match the sampling rate of the incoming music.

My question is: what happens first?

1. The resampling -> then I don‘t need multiple convolving filters, just only one for the fixed resampling rate (because the signal is already resampled to this fixed rate)

2. The convolution -> then the convolution uses optimized filters, which match the sampling rate of the incomming music, and then the convolved music is resampled to the given fixed sample rate

Resampling is always performed first.

Resampling is always first but bear in mind JRiver can resample the convolution filter too

It would be nice to have possibility to use this:
2. The convolution -> then the convolution uses optimized filters, which match the sampling rate of the incoming music, and then the convolved music is resampled to the given fixed sample rate.
