Title: Can MC 24 for Mac play 3D
Post by: rbienstock on March 14, 2019, 04:20:53 am
I have a bunch of 3D MKV rips with MVC files. A search of this forum seems to indicate that MC for Windows supports playback of these files in 3D. But all the instructions here on how to do 3D appears to apply to Windows only. does that mean that MC for Mac can'd play these files in 3D?

3D MVC playback is indeed limited to Windows, because it is facilitated by external video playback components that only exist for Windows.

OK, do you know if anyone has successfully done it using Windows running as a virtual machine under Parallels on a Mac? I've got that now (but not the projector that does 3D, yet, so I can't test). If I can do this with my existing machine, rather than buying a new Windows box, I'd prefer this. On the other hand, I am liking those Hades Canyon NUCs.

that magic component Henrick speaks about is MadVR ... and it requires graphic hardware to support 3d to output frame pack 3D via hdmi ... i am not so sure mac hardware support it (even nvidia drop 3d from their newest drivers ... i have to use old drivers to get 3d)

you can test it even if you dont have 3d tv/projector ... or your mac mini does not support 3d frame pack ... in those cases MadVR will output 3d in top/bottom or under/over
