Title: License Problems
Post by: JimH on July 25, 2020, 09:20:19 am
JRiver Media Center 27 will be available in a few months: is on this board now, should be on the Download Page in a week or two.
https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,126045.0.html

You can use an MC27 license now with MC26.0.98 or higher.  You must download  and install it, then restore using your MC27 license.

For problems installing the license, please read this:

Restoring a License (https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Restoring_a_License)

If you have a question, please post it here, but do NOT post your Registration Code.

Is there any advantage to replacing a MC26 build license with a new MC27 license, or is just to allow new purchasers the opportunity to use MC26 until MC27 is released?

Sorry if that's a dumb question, I haven't upgraded versions before.

No advantage.

MC26.0.98 or higher will work with an MC27 license.

I recently purchased the upgrade to MC27. Unfortunately, I bought the Windows version instead of the Master Version (my MC26 license is a Master version). (I noticed this when I installed the new updated license.) Is there a way to change this license and pay the difference between the two? Or do I have to purchase the Master License and have an extra Windows only license that I don't need and probably never use? Or, how-about, any possiblility of refunding the Windows only license, then purchase the Master version?
Many thanks in advance for your help.

Title: Missing invoice
Post by: Heiuwe on August 14, 2020, 12:20:41 pm
Hallo,
I ordered JRiver MC 27 Upgrade on August 5 and received the Registration Code.
I did not get any Invoice until now. Please send me an invoice for that order Thank you.

This issue is repeating every time I buy a new license and makes me angry.
Why do you not send an Invoice with sending the new License-Code?

And why is it so difficult every time to find contact to you, i.e. by email?
Thanks
Uwe

We send an acknowledgement of purchase by email.  Your credit card or bank statement should show the amount.  In the U.S., this is proof of purchase.

New here so not sure in correct place.  I've had JRiver MC for sometime and upgrade from time to time over the years.  Was in a hurry this evening when upgrading from 24 to 27 and purchase the wrong version.  Need windows and purchase the master as that what I thought I had.  The attachment to upgrade to 27 will not work as I found out.  Just need to know who and how I can get the Windows version of MC 27.  Not looking for a refund as it was my mistake.

Thanks  :-\ ?

I have a similar problem. I bought the upgrade from my MC 22 to MC 27 on Mac - and then got a notice to buy the MC 27 Master - so I did, thinking I needed BOTH. I have read that I need only one. Yes - it is my mistake - but it was confusing. I would only like the refund of the Master License. Happy paying for the MC27 for Mac version.
Where do I go to request this refund?

Many thanks,
Paul

I have purchased JRiver 27 and installed it on one computer.  Now I want to install it on a second which currently runs JRiver 25.  I have the registration codes for 25, 26 and 27.

As best I understand it, I first have to upgrade from 25 to 26, but I don't know how to get an mjr file for 26.

If you're using the latest build of MC26, it'll accept the MC27 .mjr license file. Once MC27 is released repeat the procedure.

MC27 won't work with an MC26 license.

MC26.0.98 or higher will work with an MC27 license.

The temp folder message isn't normal.  Antivirus?

have 26.0.107 installed? MC27 installed fine on my other two PCs? When I bought MC27 license put it on all three MC26 PCs. Now the temp link is to old for the MC27 License? Maybe The MC27 license did not take on this laptop? The new Lic I recieved on email says incorrect version installed?  Maybe I will uninstall MC27 and try reinstalling with anti virus off?

NOPE that did not work Got message "can not create temp folder archive"
Got it to work-- found my registration code and clicked on it and everything fine now. Earlier could not find the registration code. Not sure why I get the  "can not create temp folder archive". Had the same problem with MC 26 on this laptop and had to install with admin privileges. The other PCs just run the new file and the license updates itself?

Thanks JimH

Every time MC27 automatically upgrades its version it shows up with the splash screen that says I have a trial version and gives me the button to restore my code.

How can I get MC27 to acknowledge that I actually DO have a license (that I have now put in 3 times  :P)

I have a problem with registering my license after purchasing MC27 for Windows.

Most probable reason: payment was by PayPal, but my primary PayPal e-mail address is not the one I used to download trial version of JRiver software (it is my secondary PayPal e-mail address).
PayPal support page ( https://rover.jriver.com/cgi-bin/paypal_support.cgi ) does not help in such a case. I suppose it fails on matching PayPal transaction with my JRiver trial account.

How can we sort it out?

I'm using the correct one. In fact, I have burned up almost all of my MC27 restores through this. Once we get this resolved, can I have some restores added back? I have another computer that is also doing this, but I can't get to it today. (I have a few computers with MC27.)

I purchased a license on the 27th July 2020, but never got the codes. When I try to restore via the PayPal help page I get the following error message:

We could not authenticate your transaction.

I have the transaction id and I've even tried all my different email addresses - in case I had used a different address from the one used with PayPal.

What to do?

Thank you in advance

The paypal page is not relevant once the license has been issued.

Thank you for your prompt reply. That email address would be my first guess, but nothing there. Nor in the spamfilter, where I have whitelisted *@jriver.com

I'll have to contact my domain host later. If this fails, will it then be possible to move the license to another domain? My "main" domain is hosted at a different provider than the rest of my domains. Hence the question.

Edited to add: Success! Your email address had been blocked in another filter, that I don't have access to.
This has seemingly been an issue for a while.

HI,

I just want to say asking for the invoice every time is frustrating but I get an awesome response every time I ask for one (thanks Deanna) by email which for my country needs correct company details etc.

I would rather have improved library features that an automated invoice solution :-)

Maybe the answer is a button to request an invoice where I enter my company name and all is well.

What we send now when you purchase should satisfy the need for an invoice.  It lists our name, the product, the amount, date, etc.  I've never understood why it isn't satisfactory.

It may sometimes get sorted to a spam folder by the email program.  It comes from buy-button at jriver.  This is what we send.

E agora?....

Hello
I can not operate the program. Now it does not start.
It's giving a notice that says ''Media center was installed in a different operating system. Please, reinstall Media Center.''

I am running WIN 10 PRO 64

My media version 27 registration code was received before i updated WIN 64 HOME to WIN 64 PRO.

I reinstalled MEDIA CENTER providing my registration code. - restoring but problem remains.

Note it is a paid version of 27.

I am a longtime legitimate user.

Thanks

Try the 32 bit version of MC.

I bought the MC 27 Master license in August. I've installed MC 27 on both Linux (Tumbleweed) and Mac (Catalina) and I cannot get either to register. If I use the .mjr file it says the "code is invalid". If I use the code that came with the email I get "there is a problem communicating with the registration server". I tried doing a restore and got an email with the same code that was in the original email and get the same results. I tried uninstalling MC27 and reinstalling the latest update (50) and same problem. My old copies MC24 & MC26 are still working fine with their original codes. I've been using MediaCenter since MC22. This is using 2 different computers.
So what am I doing wrong?
Thanks.

Please read the license link in my signature.  The Install Key is only good for 14 days.  The server error may be a firewall or antivirus problem.
Title: Re: License Problems
Post by: DaveInVA on January 09, 2021, 03:10:27 pm
I already looked that page over many times. I've been using MC since 22 and never had these problems before.
I just got your email with the new .mjr file and now I get "could not restore license with the file". I also tried for hours back in august when I first purchased this MC27 license and had no luck then either. I have not yet been able to get a single MC27 registered  on Linux, Mac or Windows since the purchase in August. I had tried turning the firewall off and it made no difference.. I've probably got 10 plus hours invested in trying to make this work in all the times I've tried since purchase. Its really frustrating   to say the least.

Another clue - I tried using the "Extend Trail Period" option and it doesn't like my email address and asks me to check it. Its the correct email address for my account. I also uninstalled it again and manually deleted all the leftover config stuff and reinstalled it yet again.  I'm not using a VPN and turning off the firewall didn't help. MC26 still working fine and has no trouble connecting to my remote NAS.

I used your license to restore on my computer and it worked, so I know the license is good.

So the possibilities are

1.  You're not using the right Registration Code to Restore.  Read this:  https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Restoring_a_License  The Install Key is only good for 14 days.

2.  You don't have MC27 installed.

3.  Something on your network is causing it to fail.  Security software can do that.

Please tell us, step by step, what you've done.  The more details the better.
Title: Re: License Problems

I downloaded update 50 from your site today and used alien to convert it to (mediacenter27-27.0.50-2.x86_64.rpm). Previously I used update 24. The code came from you and the one I got today was the same code that was on the original email from 8/4/20 that was labeled "JRiver, Inc. Media Center 27 Master" so its the right code and version. No security software of any kind.
I tried downloading the latest Mac version and installed it on a very fresh install of Catalina 10.15.7 and it would not register either.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled both many multiple times.  I am still using the same ASUS RT-AC68u router and Comcast cable internet as when I installed MC26 and updated it many times as the updates came out with no problems. I am having no network problems at all and all my other software that needs access works fine. I have disabled the firewall on both the router and OS's and no change.  This is very frustrating especially since I was a computer engineer for more than 30 years (hardware mostly) and this shouldn't be this hard..

Update: On the Mac the new .mjr file says it was successful when you double click on it but MC27 gives the same error that it had trouble communicating with the registration server.

Haven't emailed you ever. The problem still exists and I've always cut and pasted the code. See my post prior to yours. It appears this Master License is going to be useless to me if this is the way you are going to handle this problem by deeming it solved when it is not. I have not as yet been successful on registering a single copy of MC27 !

It's an app on Linux that will convert a .deb file used for Debian, Ubuntu, etc. to .rpm which is used in Fedora, Red Hat, etc. If going that route I'd recommend looking at BryanC's installJRMC script.

You probably have to do the symlink the certificate that Bob has mentioned in the past to get it to work. Try this in a terminal...

Code: [Select]
cd /etc/ssl/certs
Then...

Code: [Select]
sudo ln -s /etc/pki/ca-trust/extracted/pem/tls-ca-bundle.pem ca-certificates.crt
And see if that works for you. :)

Here is what I get trying to update the certs:
sudo ln -s /etc/pki/ca-trust/extracted/pem/tls-ca-bundle.pem ca-certificates.crt
ln: failed to create symbolic link 'ca-certificates.crt': File exists

I've only been dealing with Opensuse Tumbleweed Linux and MacOS Catalina 10.15.7 on this go of it. I did try installing it on Windows early on when MC27 was first released but had the same problem and haven't messed with Windows since.  The windows machine is low priority as it was only being used as a music server and I now use an NAS so its kind of a doorstop for now.
I only use Mediacenter for audio. I will be putting together a headless Rasberry Pi4 soon so I can control MC with a tablet.
Update: I installed a brand new copy of Opensuse TW on an old intel based PC and had the same problem. I then set up my other router as a bridge and a free VPN and now both the new TW install and MacOS MC27 installs work! The machine I am on typing this is my older (but current updates) install of Openuse TW and its not on the bridge/VPN and it still doesn't work. So maybe the reg server doesn't like my IP?
Other things to note. The Linux MC install that doesn't work is AMD64 based and I used the AMD64 version of MC on it just like MC22,24 and 26 that all worked fine.
The fresh Linux install is the same TW version but its on an Intel based pc so I used the i386 version.
And yes alien is used to convert .deb packages to .rpm packages which Openuse and other use instead of .deb.

Read Awesome Donkey's advice just above.  Use the Linux board for help.  I may move part of this thread there.

Easiest to just use the debian cert included with MC.
sudo rm -f /usr/lib/jriver/Media\ Center\ 27/ca-certificates.crt
ln -s /usr/lib/jriver/Media\ Center\ 27/local-ca-certificates.crt /usr/lib/jriver/Media\ Center\ 27/ca-certificates.crt

My registered copy of MC27 suddenly started telling me that my trial has ended for the second time, and I had to use another restore. It registers just fine, but seems to randomly forget it's registration code. Or maybe it takes my full reg code as another trial?

Edit: This time it was probably because I changed the name of my pc in settings?

Yes, that will do it.

Good afternoon Jim
I bought Media Centre and has crashed, so followed instructions to uninstall/reinstall, but must have been under a different email address of [edit], which is now discontinued. Can I retrieve my license code please? My email now is [edit].
Many thanks
Jon Robinson.

Hi,

It looks like the mac address always change when I reboot my MC container. I burned all my 20 licenses. Is it possible to reset the count?

'You have just restored a license for JRiver Media Center. There are 20 restores available in each 12 month period.  There are 0 restores remaining at this time.'

Thank you

The mac address shouldn't change.  But your license restores have been reset.  You can extend your restores by using the full 30 day trial period and by using the Install Key.  https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Restoring_a_License

I assume this is linux, turn off Mac address randomization for the container.

In 2018, I bought a license for Windows version 25. That version never worked properly for me. Every couple of months app asked me to re-register even though I was on the same computer the whole time and nothing is changed.

The music was interrupted every about 15-20 seconds and the database was falling apart. I changed the computer (bought Intel NUC), changed the NAS to QNAP, reinstalled everything, rebuilt the whole database and everything was the same again. Then I stopped listening to digital music for some time.

After I got the ad in the mail for new version 27 I decided to try the free trial. With version 27 everything works and it really works great, but today I had to buy a license for version 27 again. I don't think that's fair since version 25 was obviously faulty.

Do you have some discount for us who switched to 27 for the reason that 25 did not work?

Kind regards

Hello, I have lost the license for version 27, although I once paid for an upgrade, when trying to restore the license, I am given a key only for version 26, and it does not fit to 27.

I removed the attachment.  It's not our receipt.

I found your license for MC27, and changed the email address to the one you used for the other licenses.  Same as your forum address.  You had used a different address (knac.....)

I resent your licenses.

Download and install MC 27.0.79 or higher:

Purchased MC27 about 6 weeks ago. Installed license everything fine.  Recently got an update that would not automatically install on either of my windows 10 computers.  After installing, I was told my trial period had expired and I had to restore license.  so I used 2 more of my annual 10 licenses to install an update.

Use 27.0.79 or newer and it'll accept the license. Like 27.0.85 which is available here: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,129256.0.html

I am still using MC25, works just fine for me.
I recently got a new tablet and put MC25 on it and when I go to register it tells me it can't find my license. It does this when I manually type in the reg code or if I double click on the .mjr file.
Did the server lose my license
