Title: convert format of files not in library
Post by: Butters on August 05, 2020, 05:41:17 pm
Greetings,

I have a few thousand songs on an external USB drive, in a directory structure 3 levels deep, and I want to convert the format of those files.
I know how to convert the format of files that are in my library.  But I cannot figure out if this is possible for files that are not in my library.

How can I get the external files to appear in MediaCenter's listing, such that I could tag them all for conversion?

Note that I do not want these files added to my library.  I want my library to remain unchanged.

If converting external files is not doable, then will creating a new library, and importing all the file into the new library, be a viable solution?
I am asking, because I am hesitant to create a new library, as I never did that and do not want to risk messing up my current library.  But if it is a simple operation, then I will do so.

Please advise.

Thank you.
