Title: Remote & AVR Volume
Post by: BY96 on February 18, 2021, 02:27:24 pm
Hello!

I am new to this forum and started using JRiver a few months ago with my new HTPC. I have found most things easy to figure out but am having one problem. I searched the forum and found a couple of similar posts, but none of the solutions offered seem to work.

My goal is to be able to have the volume control on the JRemote app work the volume on my AVR. I have a USB transceiver hooked up to my HTPC with a IR repeater pointed at the AVR's IR receiver. I have tried Internal Volume and System Volume under the volume settings, but any volume changes I make to the desktop software or the app don't seem to get sent over the transceiver or IR repeater. I have programmed my AVR's remote control volume and mute buttons in the Tools > Options > Remote Control settings.

Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

How is the PC connected to the receiver?

Thank you for replying. It is through HDMI with an HDFury Vertex2 in-between.

My goal was to control the AVR with an IR signal from the HTPC and transceiver.

Try to simplify.  Remove the HDFury and connect the PC to the receiver.   Can you control the volume from MC?

I hooked the HTPC directly to the AVR and the volume from the software or app still did not work.

The Media Center transceiver I am using flashes a light whenever it receives or transmits a signal and the light does not flash when I am trying to change the volume from the app or software.

Don't try to use the transceiver until you get volume working.  In MC, click on the speaker icon in the upper left corner and try all the options.

Just use MC, not a remote, until that's working.

I must be missing something here. I thought that by changing the volume in the software or app, MC would send an IR signal via the transceiver to my AVR. If I am not using the transceiver, how is MC communicating with my AVR?

I have tried all the options under Volume.

Thanks again for your help.
