I have MC27 running from an ARM64 docker container on my NAS, and I access MC27 via a web browser on either a Mac or PC connected to my network. Today, MC27 informed me the trial period had expired. Nothing appeared to happen when I clicked the 'Purchase' button, so I came here and followed the purchase tab to buy a Linux license. Upon paying, I received an mjr file that I have absolutely no idea what to do with, and I also received a registration code. Not really sure what to do next, I clicked 'Restore License' on the MC window that was informing me the trial had expired, and after entering the registration code, I received the following message:
You are using Media Center 27 Linux to install a license for a different version.
Please download and install the version that matches your license and then try again.
Well, the message is correct, my license is for MC28, which I don't believe exists yet. However, a few weeks ago, I received an email saying "If you have never purchased MC, just download and purchase MC27. You will receive an MC28 license that works with both versions." This doesn't seem to be working for me. I'm totally lost. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You need to use MC27.0.85 or higher in order to use an MC28 license.

I've installed the only ARM version of MC27 that I can find on Docker Hub. I can't see a detailed version number anywhere, and MC won't let me in to check. Assuming my version of MC27 isn't high enough, what do I do? Can I exchange my MC28 license for a working MC27 one?

No. Just wait. MC28 will be available in July.
Where did you find the ARM version?

Is waiting until July seriously my only option? I've spent considerable time and money changing the household hifi systems over to JRiver (it gets used for long hours every day) and after getting it working exactly how I want, it's come to a grinding halt.

You need to use 27.0.85 or higher. Anything else won't take an MC28 license.

I've managed to give myself a couple of weeks to figure this out, by extending the trial license.
If possible, I would greatly appreciate any suggestions toward a solution, other than wait for an ARM version of MC28 (or 27.0.85+) to appear on the Docker Hub, especially as it appears to be one of the lesser-supported routes to enjoying MC.
With the benefit of hindsight, I can now see there was no option to purchase a working license for what I believe is the latest version of MC (27.0.22) that will work on my NAS. It also seems there is no option to refund or exchange what I purchased in favour of a license that works. Is there at least any chance of being given an MC27 license as a stop-gap measure, please?
Right now, the only solution I have is to purchase a HDD large enough to backup my library, initialise my NAS in a couple of weeks, rebuild the system, transfer the backup of my library, rinse and repeat every 45 days until somebody hopefully builds a licensable ARM version of MC and uploads it to Docker Hub.

Unless you're wanting video playback (and doing audio only), getting a Raspberry Pi and installing Raspberry Pi OS (which is available as ARM64) and connecting that to your NAS or getting one of JRiver's Id solutions might be a better solution instead of trying to running it on your NAS in a Docker container. At least with it running on a Raspberry Pi you can update Media Center when using the repository. It's also worth pointing out that a) using the Docker image is considered unsupported by JRiver (and they also don't support in general running Media Center on a NAS) and b) once licenses for a new Media Center (MC28 in this case) are being issued there's no way to get a license for an older Media Center version, JRiver doesn't offer them anymore to customers.
For my audio only setup, the Raspberry Pi + NAS combo works rather well actually. I use the latest ARM64 build of Raspberry Pi OS along with Media Center 27 ARM64 and it works fine with a MC28 license and I'm so glad that I don't have to mess around with Docker because it's a pain.

I have it set up perfectly running on my NAS, streaming directly to my receiver, controlled by JRemote2. Licensing issue aside, it's my dream music server. I can't for the life of me see any point adding another device to the pipeline.

I can't for the life of me see any point adding another device to the pipeline, except to remind me that I got over every single technical hurdle only to be foiled at the finish line by a seemingly bureaucratic licensing issue, a fortnight after the decision was made to stop selling working licenses for my system.
Whoever made that docker image just needs to update it to the current MC27 release.
