Title: Server-client/renderer issues: client disappears / long time to discover
Post by: m@Xist on July 10, 2021, 04:48:31 pm
Good day

My current setup:
MC Server: Mac mini 2018 running 10.15.7 and MC 27.0.89
MC Renderer 1: MacBook Pro 2010 running 10.13.6 and MC 27.0.89, connected to DAC 1 via USB
MC Renderer 2: MacBook Air 2011 running 10.13.6 and MC 27.0.89, connected to DAC 2 via USB
iPad with JRemote to control the various devices. For this all three nodes have "Use Media Network to share ..." enabled.

Issue: MC Renderer 1 entry disappears in a sudden from the other nodes and from JRemote. I cannot tell what exactly it is that would bring it back alive, but restarting MC on MC Renderer 1 node seems to help. But it is hard to guess since JRemote takes like 10 min to react upon lost/alive MC Renderers on other nodes!

I have noticed the same behavior on MC Renderer 2 in the past, but what has helped is running an app that prevents the MacBook from sleeping. This I also installed and run on MC Renderer 1 now but it doesn't seep to help, so perhaps the underlaying problem is a different!?

Another fact, when I restart MC on "MC Renderer 2" it would also take quite a while for the other nodes and JRemote to discover it, at least "MC Renderer 2" would be then up "forever" and not drop off.

Perhaps, it's worth mentioning some more facts. What I refer to as "MC Renderer 1" now was previously my main server and "MC Server" did not run MC at all. No changes on MC Renderer 2 though. To migrate the server functionality (with settings and DB) I did an export and import. This also copied the zone/DAC information, so I first thought this could have caused the issue. I also changed the renderer nodes' computer names.

Also worth mentioning is that in the past, I had some issues with IGMP Snooping on the downstream switches. But this is all disabled.

Thanks for your support.
