Title: JRemote iOS and DLNA zones
Post by: landolfi on May 09, 2022, 07:17:36 am
Hi,

I must admit I have found the concept of JRiver zones confusing from Day 1. I now realize how powerful they are, but occasionally I still get tripped up. I searched the forum for an answer but I'm not even sure how to formulate the question.

I have JRiver running on a headless server. I recently discovered Panel and JRemote and would like to use them to send send audio from my JRiver server directly to a second wifi AV receiver (Denon X1200W, no computer attached to the AVR). I believe that the receiver would be considered a dynamic DLNA renderer and make itself available as a dynamic zone. My question is: How can I make the JRiver server send its stream to the AV receiver? I tried adding a zone as well as adding a dynamic zone using the AVR's IP address, to no effect.

The Denon recognizes DLNA devices but I am wondering if it is possibly incapable of advertising itself as a DLNA renderer?

The Denon does appear to be fully DLNA compliant, but your MC environment needs some setup in order to make use of it.

Check out the DLNA thread in the Wiki: https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/DLNA for what you need to do in Media Center to enable Media Networking and DLNA in your setup.

Once all is running, the Denon should show up as a DLNA Zone under "Playing Now" at the top left of MC.

Thanks! I forgot about this post, but the problem was that the server didn't have DLNA controller checked under Options/Media Network.
