Title: Silent playback on MacOS M1
Post by: scottlf on August 01, 2022, 02:34:55 pm
An odd thing has happened with MC and my M1 Macbook Pro running the latest MacOS (Monterey). Sometimes it will appear to be playing back, but everything’s silent. Other playback apps such as Vox still play just fine. I’ve checked the following:

1. Playback output in MC is still set to my regular output (a Bryston USB converter that goes to the DAC).

2. My system sound output is set to the Bryston as well.

3. It plays just fine if I select playback through the MacBook Pro speakers. It’s only with the Bryston USB output that I have this problem.

4. Sometimes killing/restarting CoreAudio will fix this. Most of the time, the only solution is to reboot the computer.

Any thoughts?

Update: I tried turning off Integer Mode in playback, and so far (knock knock) the problem hasn't re-emerged.

Not sure where the Integer mode is located in MC 29

MC's Options > Audio > click on Device settings under the Audio Device section and there should be a box to disable integer mode there.
