Title: Inexpensive and easy DLNA renderer
Post by: rec head on November 15, 2022, 05:03:46 pm
I'm looking for something inexpensive to stream to.

Requirements:
1) Easy setup.
2) I want to use JRemote to control it.
3) I don't want to have to manage it frequently
4) I don't want to have to reach behind my gear to turn it on every time. I can plug it into a smart-switch as long as it boots fairly quickly.
5) Optical or Coax digital output. I don't need a DAC. I don't want HDMI.
6) Gapless playback.

Right now I have an HTPC hooked up but it doesn't have WoL. I need to manually power it on or wake it. I have considered getting a new MB and CPU for it. I also have an Arylic HD unit that I don't recommend. Finally I have Chromecast in my Shield but that is connected via HDMI and sometimes gets finnicky about the TV not being on.

Thanks for any input.

Thanks for replying.

I thought about that but wouldn't it be just as good to get a new MB for the HTPC that is already connected? Run HDMI to one input for video and digital audio to another input for audio only.
