Title: JRiver MediaCenter forgot all file locations
Post by: GerhardS on November 29, 2022, 02:06:06 pm
From one day to another, JRiver forgot all my music file locations.
Therefore, I cannot play any music file anymore. The video section is fine though.
The column Filename is empty. Restart did not help. The latest version (I use Version 30.0.30 64 bit.) was already in use several days.

While searching for a solution, I started the auto-import and now I have all files double. 1 with filename/path and the other with empty filename.
The rest of the meta data is same.

I use JRiver since years daily and never experienced anything similar.

How can I get rid of the duplicates now?

Audio... Files... Sort on "Filename" column.  Select all the files with empty filename and delete.  Select the default "Remove from Library".

following your suggestion, I don't have duplicates in the general view (audio) anymore, but all my 23 playlist are empty now ...

I would do a restore from recent library backup. You should choose backup file which have been created before you added duplicates with auto import and also before your filenames were cleared. If you haven't done a backup manually MC has also auto backup feature so you might find suitable backup.

I was not aware that there are very regular backups.
Yes, this did the trick, I may have lost 3-5 ratings, but the rest is fine. Thank you!

Nice, good to hear that things went well in the end!
