Title: Skin & Plug-in submission
Post by: Nikolay on June 03, 2004, 03:09:37 pm
Hi everybody,

We have put together a simple submission form.
http://accessories.musicex.com/mediacenter/submitplugin.php (http://accessories.musicex.com/mediacenter/submitplugin.php)

You can use it to submit your skins and plug-ins to MC's accessories page.

Thanks a lot for your continued support.

Nikolay

Thanks Dragyn.

I uploaded my skins but when someone want to install it, they get the zip file instead. Anyway to change that or did I do it wrong?

Sorry, my fault, I'm still working on the upload stuff. They should be OK now.

ok. some of the files work. not sure if you're done yet.

orange, blue, and bright blue of mine doesn't seem to exist (file not found).

If I want to update a skin, do I pick the number that refers to the mjp for the ID? I didn't get any emails that I know of.

Title: What about EXEs?
Post by: Zoner on July 08, 2004, 06:25:33 am
I've written an exe that plugs MC into Russound's multi-room system.  It probably should be a plug-in, but I was lazy and just wrote it as an exe.  I'm happy for anyone who wants to have a copy to get one for free.  Can it be submitted, or?

How's this coming along? I sent a few of my skins into this a few days ago but haven't heard/seen anything. A lot of ppl are wondering where they are. Some links from the previous time are not working as well.

Updates and broken links should be fixed now. Thanks for the heads-up.

I want to post my application which links MC11 to the Russound CAV6.6 multi-room system, but it doesn't fit within any of the categories you described.  Could you add an "other" category?  It's not a plug-in, it's an .exe that connects to both MC11 (via COM) and the CAV6.6 (via RS-232), and allows them to communicate together.

Seems like a good idea to me.
Shouldn't be hard to add another category.

Ok, I added an "Other" category. Go ahead and try submitting it.

Hi,

I have submitted my MegaMe Skin Aluminium via your submission form.  It looks like the form doesn't produce a working mjp file, because when I try the link I get a error message. Second the name of the author should be 'Beatnik62'. Please can someone of jriver correct this ?

Thanks in advance,

Beatnik

That was fast, or I was only trying to download the skin before it was completely  transmitted. Now the link works well, but the author .... maybe someone can correct it ?  Thanks.

Edited by Beatnik : Thanks, now it's OK.

I added an author field to the submission form so we wouldn't have to guess. Thanks for the feedback.

I have written a comprehensive track info page which uses images extensively.  It is I believe something completely different to anything out there. All up it is 4mb in size with example images included. It incorporates options to view track, album and artist details, lyrics, internet searchs, websites and games. All with "eye candy" in mind.
To add it, do I simply use the submission form at the top of this thread?
How do I go about adding screenshots?

TIA

Marra

The screenshots, you would need to host on your own site. Seeing how it's only 4mb, most people will install it anyway.

I look forward to seeing your info plate!

For forum images you need to have a personal host, but the Skins & Plugins area can host two separate images. You can upload the images directly from your PC with the same submission form:

http://accessories.musicex.com/mediacenter/submitplugin.php

Small image for accessory page
(gif, png or jpeg =200 pixels wide)

Large image for zoom image

I finally got around to submitting my Lyrics Editor plugin late last week sometime. Any idea how long it should take before it's listed?

At one time it was automated, but it was sort of broken.

Not sure why they went to a manual way to submit.

I don't like it, so I don't play with it

It is one reason I Just put it on my own pages.

Yeah,  I have my own page for it, but I figured it would get more publicity if it were featured on JRiver's site.

I have a few questions about the submission of a couple standard view skins (this is totally new to me, so please forgive any dumb questions.)

1) How do I find out what to put for this:

"List of Actions for a mjp file (if necessary) or
link to offsite page if you will be hosting the accessory"

I have couple skins I'd like to submit, but I have no idea what "actions" are necessary for this, or where/how to find this out.  I did look over some of the DevZone links, but I wasn't able to figure out how it all works.

2) The submission form says to submit a zip file.  Does the site automatically take care of unzipping the the file and installing it directly when the "Download" link is clicked on the JR site?  In other words, does the submission for take care of the "mjp creation" process?

3) On a related note to (2), how much of the folder path should be included in the zip for skins?  Do we just zip the files with no path and let the submission process do the rest?

4) What's the "Accessory id"?

5) Once submitted, can it be removed by the submitter?  If so, how?

Thanks for any details on this stuff.

I think the submitter is all manualy done by someone at JRiver if and when they have time to post it.

1) How do I find out what to put for this:

The mjp actions tell MC how to install the accessory automatically. For example:

[Package]
Name=Aluminium (black)
Action=INSTALLSKIN
Url=http://accessories.jrmediacenter.com/mediacenter/mc_data/plugins/785.zip

The URL gets set when the plugin is added to the list. This is the simplest example. If someone submits a plugin without the mjp actions, I add them manually.

A more complex mjp, using version 2 mjp looks like this:

 <?xml version="1.0" standalone="yes" ?>

<MJPF version="2.0">

        <Package>
                <Name>Kaktus</Name>
                <Action>UNZIPDIR|SAVE_DIR_STRUCT</Action>
                <URL>http://accessories.musicex.com/mediacenter/mc_data/plugins/794.zip</URL>
                <Version>1.0</Version>
                <HasActions>1</HasActions>
        </Package>

        <Actions>
                <FileEntry>
                        <File>*.*</File>
                        <Action>
                                <Command>COPY_DIRECTORY</Command>
                                <Param>FullSkins</Param>
                        </Action>
                </FileEntry>

See above on mjp creation. The zipfile that you upload containing the accessory is downloaded BY the .mjp that you click on in the download link on the JR site.

Yes, zip the file without a path.

Thanks for any details on this stuff.

The accessory id is sent back to you on the submission of a new skin. You use that in future modifications (that is why it's only required for updates in the form).

So who would like to post a "no-skin" skin? I'm really tired of all these colors. I would love a normal Windows application window, functionnal and sober, and using the exact same scheme as the rest of the OS.

Call me nuts but after reloading my computer today and reinstalling JRiver I'm having a heck of a time finding the theater view skin I used before. Is there no location where all files are made available to download? I notice the OP stating the MC Accessory page but I guess I'm blind and don't see it. No offense to the creators but the 1990s layout and build of the JRiver site isn't user friendly. The download page is a mess of garble. I would think that the times could be updated to the current time zone we are in where web pages aren't just full of text and nothing more. It makes those of us that are used to looking at modern pages have strained eyes trying to find in the muck what we are trying to find.

Hi,
I would like some help/if anyone knows how to over come the 2 things below /I would be very appreciative

I can change the images for when, I first enter Theater view.

What I would really like to avoid is the veiling of the image the misty look,is there anyway to avoid this eg:(disable so the background is a normal image not misty to look at).

And also when I delete the Van Gogh images and add my own / the next time I update I have to repeat the process.

Is there anyway to stop the update changing my images

Thank you

P.s
here is some thing I just discovered,I will explain just in case others do not know.Probably everyone except me already knew how to do this/anyway this is what I found out

I use black on black for my theme and obsidian for Theater View,I was experimenting with images to display behind the rolling menu's when I first enter Theater View

and thought I wonder if I could animate this,so this is what i did

I downloaded this animation    http://givemefreeart.com/Downloads/free-3d-animation/Rain-Lights.php  there are lot's more on the Net

Then I deleted the images from  C:\Program Files (x86)\J River\Media Center 19\Skins\Theater View\Themes\Default

I then changed the extension of the animation / I think it downloaded as a mp4 and it did not seem to work / I just renamed the extension to mpg

And then added it to   C:\Program Files (x86)\J River\Media Center 19\Skins\Theater View\Themes\Default

The Theater view  options are set to default,and when I entered Theater View the animation played in the background

It looked good,and would look even better if it did not have that mask Veil over it.

It is unnecessary and not required / and I would PLEASE!!!!! like an option to disable it

Thanks in advance for any suggestions, I hope this makes sense /// Cheers

Hi,

I have tried to submit a new LyricsFinder for MC, but am having trouble with your submission form.
It looks like you have it in 2 places:

http://accessories.musicex.com/mediacenter/submitplugin.php
https://yabb.jriver.com/mediacenter/submitplugin.php

Probably the same endpoint, maybe...
Anyway, both return the same HTML 404 error:

Not Found
The requested URL /mediacenter/subacc.php was not found on this server.

Any ideas on workarounds?
