Title: How to use DFx with movies in J river --> Guide
Post by: thenoob1 on February 16, 2007, 09:38:13 am
Hi I'm a fan of Dfx and I use it very often with music. But I wanted it also for movies in JRiver so.... I worked on it.

1) Install ffdshow like CCCP or K lite packs .... I use K lite mega pack.

2) Install Winamp 2  ......important: only Winamp 2 and not 5.... maybe it cause problems. But maybe it works with 5 also.

3) Install Dfx for winamp

4) Now go to the audio configuration of ffdshow. like start>Programs>K lite mega pack>ffdshow>audio configuration.

5) Go to Winamp 2 .... select the install folder... no DFX should pop up as a plugin in the list. select it and click on the button configure. Select the preset you want, and for films select speech. Close config.

6)Now make sure that winamp two is selected as filter.

7) For Movies select the ffdshow audio decoder filter in MC12.

8) While movie you can also change the settings under direct show filters...click on ffdshow audio decoder and than winamp2 and configure .....you can also close the ffdshow window and you have the dfx window as a "standalone" like you have it in the dsp music mode.

That's it.  hope it's helpful...

So what do you mean by digital FX?  What do they do to enhance the video viewing experience of a typical Media Center enjoyer?

Do you know DFX?

It´s a tool with uses a equalizer technology for audio decoding. So you can enhance the sound quality of mp3 (xvid divx) or .mp4 movies (aac) or mpgs etc.

The "speech" mode is optimized for films.... makes it sound clearer and so on. Normally I hate extra software but Dfx really enhances my mp3.
For lossless it doesn´t bring so much but you can bring more athmosphere in it. Try it. There is a free edition available and thats well enough for movie audio.

UPDATE:

It works with Winamp 5 too. I've tested all free versions ---> it works perfect.
