cncb, the plugin doesn't work for me.

I can register the dlls, but the plugin option doesn't show up in service&plugin menu.

I'm using MC13 and Vistax64

I've G15 2.generation  and I've already looked into Plugin manager without success.

I've also tried to edit the .reg file - I changed Media Jukebox path to MC13 path etc. but nothing help.

But a big THX for your work. You're the best.  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Looking forward to use your plugin.

Sorry, there are special 64-bit dlls that I forgot about.  Please try to download these (I attached them to the first post), unzip them to the same directory, and try again.

Thx I tried it with the x64 dlls, but I can't find the LCD plugin in MC13. I looked into Plugin Manager and under service& plugins but without success.

Maybe there's something wrong with the .reg for x64 systems??

The registration of the dlls worked as you described in your first post and the reg file registers correctly too. I unziped the x64 dlls and the LCDPlugin DLLs in the plugin folder of MC13.

Thx in advance - thenoob1

Strange.  If you run regedit can you confirm the entries were added from the .reg file?

Yes, I looked into regeditor and I can find the reg entries under the given path .

But maybe it's my mistake - it would be cool if someone else can confirm that it works/doesn't work for Vista x64...

I'll post some screenshots of the reg process and from the regeditor to make sure that I've installed the plugin correctly.

It's working on my G15 v1, it's working!! Tons of thanks for this one! This is something i was screaming for!

Can i start making suggestions? :P

Title: Re: Logitech LCD Manager Display Plugin (for G15, Z10, etc.)

Can't resist! here it goes:P

1) Scrolling text support!!
I use the following syntax :

line1:
Now Playing: [Name]

line2:

by [Artist] ([Album] [Year])

So, when this goes off screen, i can't see the whole text, text scrolling would be great here:P

2)Volume support! when using the g15 volume slider, would be nice to have some visual effect on the applet, like a bar that goes up or down:P

Ofc, i'm grateful that someone actually made that plugin, so i'll do my best not to be a greedy *beep* :P

No suggestions allowed  ;D.

1) I knew this one would be requested.  I'll see what I can do.

2) I only have the Z10 speakers so I don't know about this one.  With the Z10 there is a volume bar that appears when I adjust the volume (either with the controls on the Z10 or the volume buttons on my standard Logitech keyboard).  If there isn't something built-in to the G15 I'm not sure what I can do.

Everything looks ok.  Make sure there are no error messages that might be hidden behind the MC interface.  Are the other plugins shown in the registry in a similar location (i.e. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JRiver\Media Center 13\Plugins\Interface)?  Maybe they have to be registered somewhere else for x64?  Sorry, I'm not sure what the problem is.

Ok here we go...

cncb's plugin under Vista x64:

Here the modified regeditor file:

The path changes to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\JRiver\Media Jukebox so it doesn't work with 32bit reg file.

The "modified" x64 Vista reg.file can be found here - cncb can you add it to your initial post?

http://netload.in/dateiem08ahCSas/install.reg.htm (http://netload.in/dateiem08ahCSas/install.reg.htm)

Ok.. it works now. I used the original 32bit dlls because then the plugin works perfectly.

Screenshot:

(http://www.imgwelt.de/thumbs/C9T173V1IK6.jpg) (http://www.imgwelt.de/show.php?code=C9T173V1IK6)

when I use the x64 dlls I get this error: -- I suggest that you just delete the x64 files because the 32 bit files work perfectly.

THX for the great work

PS: The only problem which I've encountered so far is that the plugin doesn't start when MC starts or the music playback starts. It needs around 15-18 seconds until the plugin appears. That's only a minor issue and it's only a drawback if one starts and exits MC all the time - like playing a song, exit, starting MC again, starting another playback, etc. -- maybe it's another problem with x64.

thenoob1,

Thanks very much for figuring this out (what a strange reg path that is  ?).  I don't know why the 64-bit dlls don't work since they were described as necessary/special for 64-bit systems.  In any case, I will include the .reg file in a new zip file and update the instructions.

It only takes a few seconds for me.  Do you have it cycling through other screens with delays between them before you start MC?  If so, it will wait until its "turn" to display which might explain some of the delay.

Yes, I already figured that out yesterday. I've disabled the RSS-feed program and activated the quick switch -- now it takes around five seconds to display the plugin.

You can enable the "Immediate display of high priority items" in the game panel software, as it will make mc's applet to display instantly as well.

1) Scrolling text support!!

I just added simple text scrolling - nothing fancy but it gets the job done.

I'm using this as well on Windows 7.

Could you include a function to set the rating of each song with one of the 4 buttons below the display?
e.g. A song is not rated, I press the left button once, now it has 1 star, then 2,3,4,5 and then 0 again.

Rating like 200 low-quality songs a week to see which need to be bought is a hell of a task.

I could include the feature on my own so you don't have the work.

Hook me up via PM if needed :)

Until now I assigned 6 of the G-Keys for Rating from 0 stars to 5, but I had to bring Media Center to front each time which bothers me while I work.

Thats a great idea! Make some use out of those other seemingly useless buttons.

I just found a workaround.
By creating global hotkeys.
What needs to be done can be seen here: http://wiki.jrmediacenter.com/index.php/User_Defined_Global_Keyboard_Shortcuts (http://wiki.jrmediacenter.com/index.php/User_Defined_Global_Keyboard_Shortcuts)

The only drawback is that the rating on the LCD doesn't change like any other tag when you edit it while playback.

Yes, I can add this.  While I'm doing it, are there any other functions that people would like to assign to the other buttons?

I would love this! As for other features, a graphical representation of the rating "stars" would be nice :) if that's not too much trouble, maybe make the font smaller so it allows 3 lines of text ? Or even better give us the control of font size / number of lines of text displayed eg:

Artist name
Song
***** (rating)

As for the rest of the buttons, a nice idea would be to control the shuffle and/or repeat modes, along with a "Play Radio" button with again a graphical representation of those icons being on/off if that's possible.

Ok ok i stop i know i'm asking TOO much :P

You could do the rating with an (somewhat ugly) expression like so:

Code: [Select]
If(IsEqual([Rating],5),*****, If(IsEqual([Rating],4),****,  If(IsEqual([Rating],3),***,  If(IsEqual([Rating],2),**,  If(IsEqual([Rating],1),*,  If(IsEqual([Rating],0),-,  ))))) )
I have found, at least with the Z10 display, that any smaller font is not really legible.  I could make an optional third line of text that would replace the progress bar.  Or I could make a preset "icon area" to optionally replace the progress bar (with rating, shuffle mode, etc.)? What do you think?

Yep, the rating stars expression works like a charm^^

Hmm, z10 unlike g15 seems to have a bit smaller display so that would be indeed a problem. However your second recommendation - to have a preset icon area - seems like a pretty good idea!

You could make the 4th button to swap between progress bar / and info or even a tick box (like the ones for auto scrolling) to auto swap every few seconds or something.

Eg:

So if progress bar looks like this:
|>   2:50 ==================== 5:00 (yea i know i suck at this :P)

After a press of a button or after a few seconds could look like this for example:

|>  2:50/5:00 Rating ***** Shuffle: Auto (or icon) | Repeat: Off (or icon)

What do you think?

Please keep the progress bar, it is really useful in theater view.  Is it possible to add the fields to show [PN Position] of [PN Tracks]?

I was thinking about making the functions of the buttons "assignable" and would make the toggling of the display one of these functions along with your other ideas (shuffle, repeat, etc.).  I'll try to put something together shortly.

It would be an option to show something instead of the progress bar - it isn't going anywhere.  I could make the playing now fileds available in the line expressions (i.e. you could place [PNP] and [PNT] somewhere in the expressions and I would make the substitutions).  Would this work for you?

Yes, that would help very much.  Seeing that while MC is minimized will let me know when I need to add some songs.  Thank you.

I just posted an update.  I decided against the "icon panel" since there currently is no way to get the actual shuffle or repeat modes (only "on" or "off") and there is not a good way to determine when these have changed.  So, I added a third line of file text instead that will show in place of the progress bar if you so choose (by default this shows the rating).  You can also add any MC core command to any of the "soft" buttons so hopefully this will be useful.

Could this please be updated to work with the G19? I have both a G13 gamepad and a G19 keyboard. On the G13 it works fine, but on the G19 since its LCD is color, the whole thing is just white on the screen and doesn't display any of the text or anything.

I think if you can change the color of the text to black it would work on the G19 at least. If you want me to test it out since very few people have the G19, feel free to PM me.

I just got a g19 and gave my son the g15.  Is there any news on a color for the font yet, I too have a blank screen now. :'(

Unfortunately it is not just as simple as a font color but I have something for you guys to try.  Unzip the attached file to the same place you did before and overwrite the dll.  Start MC, go to the Logitech LCD plugin screen and select the G19 in the dropdown for "Device".  It won't use the whole display yet but let's see if we get anything to display on there first.

It shows the drop down in mc.  I see it running in the panel manager.  Nothing is there on the panel after manually cycling through all screens.

I re-registered the .dll file through the windows prompt, still didn't work. Also added the debug string value in the registry editor and never popped up any errors or anything. Still doesn't display or read anything from the LCD. I even removed the MC program from the Logitech Game panel and let it re-add itself and still not working. I am using MC13 still, could that be an issue?

I found a G19 emulator so I should be able to debug this and get it working from here.  It will be a little while, though.

Ok, I think I figured out the problem (it works for me on the G19 emulator).  Try the dll attached to this post.  If it works for you guys, I can make some minor visual changes (layout and play state icons, for example) assuming you G19 users can agree on what you want  :).

Ah yes it works on the G19 now. Very nice work, however a few things. The layout of everything looks very good, no complaints from me about it. One issue however, behind everything the background is white and the text of the song, artist, time, etc.. is also like a dim grey color, makes the text difficult to read. Any possibility of these being customizable from the user's end such as change the background and text color? If not I would like to see the background black and the text white.

Love that you included the album art in it too ^^

Ok, I posted the new version.  Note that if you change the font size too much you might get strange results.  Also, I would remove the "Debug" string from the registry if you added it to avoid any unwanted popup messages.

it's got an lcd display that shows email notification now and supposedly shows songs playing via windows media center.
Logitech Setpoint is the software/driver set that gets installed for this.

I don't think so - it has to use the GamePanel software.

Hi

First of all, let my add my praise to that of the others:  Great plugin!

My Win7 installation is not very happy with the GamePanel software.  Don't ask me why.
So, at the recommendations from Logitech, I have installed the Logitech LCD Manager software.  As far as I can understand, that is the heir to the GamePanel software.

The plugin then fails to work.

Have you seen this problem before?
Do you have any plans to fix (wrong word, since this is not a bug or error, but....) the plugin so that it also runs with the Logitech LCD Manager software?

Sorry, Roald.  The .NET SDK that the plugin uses only works with the GamePanel software.  Hopefully someone here using Windows 7 can assist you with getting the GamePanel software to work.

Did you unzip all the files to that directory?  Did you place that directory correctly into the command string?  If so, check to make sure that the "regasm.exe" file exists at the given path and modify as necessary if you have a different version of the .NET framework.  Also make sure you have quotes around the 2 paths in the command as shown.
Title: Re: Logitech LCD Manager Display Plugin (for G15, Z10, etc.)
Post by: Gregor Samsa on March 09, 2010, 03:09:25 pm
Thanks for the response.  I definitely unzipped all the files to that directory.  I'm not at all sure that I put the directory correctly into the command string.  I tried it a number of different ways as I wasn't sure if the quotes were part of the string or not.  I'll try it again and make sure that all the quote marks are included.  My .Net version is 2.0.50727.  It has a RegAsm.exe and a regasm.exe.config file.  Not sure if this is case-sensitive or not.
Title: Re: Logitech LCD Manager Display Plugin (for G15, Z10, etc.)
Post by: Gregor Samsa on March 11, 2010, 07:23:54 pm
Success! (Mostly).  The solution revolved mostly around getting the quotes right and figuring out how to run cmd as administrator in my newly installed Win7 (right-click on accessories>command).  Now the only issue is that the third line is mostly crowded off the display.  You make reference at one point to changing the font.  Haven't been able to figure out how to do that in either the Logitech or MC menus.

Thanks again for this plugin and the tips.

If you are using are using the G15 you can't change the font size because it is already using the smallest font that is legible on the small display.  I would suggest moving some of the information from the third line that is getting cut off to the second line and having it scroll.
Title: Re: Logitech LCD Manager Display Plugin (for G15, Z10, etc.)

I am using the G15, but the font size is much larger than the plugin for WMP, which gives me 3 full lines, and the one for Foobar, which has 4.  All of these are legible.  I get about 2.1 with this one, so I must still be doing something wrong. I will configure it so that the most important stuff goes on the 1st 2 lines.  Thanks again for the help.

So, you are saying that the third line is getting cut off vertically (I thought you meant it was getting cut off on the right side)?  This shouldn't happen.  The G15 display should show exactly what the sample display shown on the plugin settings screen shows.  Is the sample display getting cut off on the bottom too?

Firstly I'll thank you for you're great work, it was great while it lasted.
For some unknown reason it's suddenly stopped working on my computer, as well as my friends who has a similar build as me.
I'm running Windows 7 64 bit, J River Media Center 14.0.147 and Logitech LCD Manager version 3.0.4.
I think it may be to do with shutting down my pc, because it worked before hand... I don't think I've done anything that could change it )or anything major as far as my system is concerned)... Hell I haven't even recently updated anything related to this working (As far as I know).

So any tips on getting it to work, I'm happy to provide you with SS and info as long as it helps me to get this thing working again.

Are you using the latest version (v1.3) of the plugin?  It fixed a registry access issue that could cause the plugin to suddenly stop working due to a change in MC.

You must keep the unzipped directory - it has the dll file necessary for the plugin to function and now stores the settings file.  If you move the directory you will have to re-register the dll (regasm).

Another slight problem I've got is every time I put my computer to sleep "MC" disappears from my running programs on the LCD screen. (Aka, I can't toggle to get J"MC" as an option)
At the moment the only way I have found to easily fix this is to open J River, go to "Services & Plug-ins" -> "Logitech LCD" and change the "Device" to "Disabled" then turn it back on.

Any ideas how to easily fix this so I don't have to do this every time I wake up my PC?

Are you leaving MC open when you put the computer to sleep?  I've never had this problem but I always close MC first before sleep.  Closing and reopening MC should have the same effect as toggling the "Device" in the plugin screen.

I just re-installed windows 7 (64 bit) and now I can't get it to work.
When i first installed it, it wouldn't show up in Logitech LCD Manager but was in J River ->  Services & Plug-ins.

Any ideas? Additional info you want me to post?

Strange - I don't know why it isn't showing up since it is for me in Win 7 x64.  You could try to edit the "install_64.reg", change "Media Jukebox" in the second line to "Media Center 15", and run "install_64.reg" again.

I don't know if you have any plans of developing this nice piece of code any further, but i was on a friend's pc the other day with G15 gen2 which had a winamp applet that appart from the playing now information etc, had some awesome visualization going on the screen (i believe it was called ray's winamp plugin or something).

Sorry, probably not.  MC used to supply the visualization window as a control that could have potentially been embedded and then rendered on the Logitech LCD.  However, this is no longer available.

Has any one had success getting this to work with MC16?

I am using the G15 on Win7 64bit and so far no luck. I have followed the steps, ran the reg file, ran the command and it was successful.

I see Logitech LCD in the plugins list under interface but nothing showing on the LCD.  Also I have been unable to get my media keys on the keyboard to work with MC16 as well.

I am also using the newer version of the logitech gaming software version 8, which I don't know maybe thats causing the problems.

Edit: Ok I just downgraded the logitech software from 8 back down to 3 the latest of the legacy. Now my media keys are working perfectly with MC16 though still no display on the LCD. I also tried redoing all the above after installing the different version.

Well I downloaded tze zip-file at the end of the first post of this thread, unpacked it and executed the "install_64.reg" file, then I opened a Command Prompt and filled in the command line and replaced the placeholder for the directory, with the real directory of the "JRMCLogLCD.dll" -file. When I do this, there comes a new black window with commandlines, poping up for half a second and immediately dissapears......no chance to read anything.
When opening MC19 and going to plugins....there is no line saying anything about Logitech CD......thats it

Did you open the command prompt as an "Administrator"?  Did you enable the .NET Framework 2.0 in Windows 8.1 (Control Panel | Programs and Features | Turn Windows features on or off)?

Type cmd in the Start box.  When you see cmd.exe in the Programs list, right-click it and select Run as administrator.

Make sure you follow every step of the setup process carefully and make sure you are looking in the correct part of the tree for the plugin.

Sorry to wake this very old thread, but I've got a question.  Is there a list with fields that can be displayed?  I tried to look up the native MC file names but apparently they are not the same.

They are the same fields.  Make sure you surround them in brackets: e.g. [Year].

Ok, I just got it: The fields are the same, what I tried to use was a variable [Total Time] and they apparently don't work. Thanks for your reply anyway.

Let me start by apologizing for possibly necroing an old thread.

I have a Logitech G13 and would like to try and get this working with the latest version of Media Center.

I am not seeing any attachments to the first post.  Is there somewhere else I should be looking for these files?

Thank you.

Sorry, I re-attached the file to the first post.  Hopefully it still works.

Anybody has an idea how to run this plugin with the MC25.
It runs perfectly well on the same Win10 machine on MC24, but on the MC25 I get the following error on the jriver start :
"interface plug-in "Logitech LCD" could not be found or created"

Thx a lot
