Title: Please help us identify your Android
Post by: Matt on October 19, 2010, 02:12:10 pm
Please help JRiver maintain a table of Android devices.

To identify your Android, right-click your Android device under Drive & Devices and choose "Info Dump". (NOTE: This will require Media Center 15.0.136 and later)

Then, post the name of the device along with the vendor ID and product ID from the Info Dump.  If you have a link to a nice image of the device (PNG, with transparency), please post that as well.

Thanks for any help!

My HTC Desire is being reported as a Droid X.

HTC Desire  Vendor ID:2996  Product ID: 4089

Very strange that according to the 2nd post the numbers are the same as the Droid X.

Maybe you should use the DeviceID instead: HT04NPL03897

HTC Desire with Android 2.2, reported as "Motorola Droid X"

I found an acceptable image and popped it in the handheld art folder....

My rushed photoshop work has left a little halo that shows up in a dark skin though :(

The original image, before cropping and resizing, at 2303 x 2816 pixels, is available by right-clicking here (http://www.theganghut.co.uk/pics/ia/15/Desire-Bravo-Brown_Front.png) and choosing "Save image as..."

I see these match what's already been reported for the Desire, but they are different phones.

This is about the best picture I could find:

(though I'm not sure how you'd handle it anyway, given the IDs match!)

In MC's Options, turn on "Media Network".  You can get an access key there which you enter on the Android.

I'll move this to a new topic later today.

Thanks for all the help so far.

It looks like vendors use the same vendor and product ID across lots of devices.

For example, Samsung uses:
Vendor ID: 1256
Product ID: 26720

For:
Samsung Galaxy S2
Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch
Samsung Galaxy Note

HTC does a similar thing.

So we need a better way to identify an Android.  Any suggestions?

Another approach is to just use the name "Android" and the robot picture for all Androids, but this doesn't feel as slick.

Is "Device ID" unique?

DeviceUID is blank on my phone, and WMDMName is E:\.

My phone has a DeviceID of 7&120A7C0B&0&0000 and DeviceName of Google File-CD Gadget.  Both are blank on Jim's Samsung Note.

Mmmm to expand just the Andriod approach would be to mark what Version of Android the device is using (ICS, etc) in case there is a difference in what each version of the OS supports in the way of file formats or stucture.

Just ordered my tablet, hope Gizmo works with Android 4 ?

Wrong thread I believe, but yeah, Gizmo works with ICS. I has some issues/bugs/requests, but plays nice and sounds pretty good so far.

My Phone:
Galaxy Nexus 'maguro' currently running ICS 4.0.3 (CodenameAndroid ROM) with franco's kernel (usually latest).

Media Center 17.0.91 incorrectly identifies my phone as the Galaxy I7500:
VID: 1256, PID: 26716

This is the same info as this post above:
Galaxy Nexus HSPA+ VID 1256 PID 26716

However, I notice in your second post, that you do have the I7500 shown with a PID of 26176. The Nexus is 26716.

So, I wonder, in the program code, did you happen to mis-transpose these two numbers?  ? They are very similar. If so, then it should be able to differentiate the two devices with different PIDs (unless there are more that use the same as the Nexus.

Cheers

Just for us dummies ...

I don't see the android listed under Drives and Devices in MC. That's with the tablet connected using Gizmo AND playing a movie also. All I got is my dvd drive, explorer, and television (which is weird because I don't have a tuner card installed).

AGPtek® 7" Android 4.0 Capacitive Touch Screen Tablet PC (Wi-Fi, G-Sensor, ARM Cortex A9 1.2GHz, 512M DDR3, Support HDMI 1080P Flash 11.1 Skype Video Calling & Netflix Movies, 4GB Built-In Storage)

Here's a pic of the device if that helps.

It's got an "About Device" screen that lists the following:

Model #WM8850-mid
Android v4.0.3
Kernel v3.0.8

Can't complain, especially for $85. Surprisingly good pic too, and the usual chicklet sound you'd expect from the teenie tiny speaker. No problems running it as a simple remote using Gizmo, but it will lock up fairly regularly when trying to stream video from the MC server. This only happens while Gizmo is showing a "preparing" wait screen. Once the movie starts, it's good. It's in MC too, as that's giving me an "ooPs, my bad" generic error message at the server before shutting down. I suppose it could be a local network issue also. No biggie for me as I intended it as mostly a remote anyway.

I  have a Samsung Convoy 640 cell phone with Verizon and Media Jukebox cannot detect it when I plug it in to my computer in order to synch.  Can anything be done about this problem?  Thank you.

Media Center creates blank .PLA file as a playlist. Is there a way to have it create a .M3U playlist.

Out of interest, how does this info help and how will you use it?

Samsung Galaxy Note Tablet 10.1 (GT-N8013), Android version 4.1.2

Samsung S2 SGH-I777 smartphone, Android version 4.0.4

Thanks for all the help so far.

It looks like vendors use the same vendor and product ID across lots of devices.

For example, Samsung uses:
Vendor ID: 1256
Product ID: 26720

For:
Samsung Galaxy S2
Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch
Samsung Galaxy Note

HTC does a similar thing.

So we need a better way to identify an Android.  Any suggestions?

Another approach is to just use the name "Android" and the robot picture for all Androids, but this doesn't feel as slick.

This thread was created to gather information for the MC Handheld Sync functionality. I suspect you are talking about the new "JRiver on Android" software?

If so, it currently has limited functionality. Take a look over here:

I also use a WD Wireless Plus 4TB HDD connected to either using either Plex or the Archos video app.

The device is a TIMMKOO Q5 ($50 handheld from Amazon).

VendorID: 2996
ProductID: 3074

"Info Dump" reports the WPD Name as "Q5 - Device Storage" but gets the name wrong under Drives & Devices as "T-Mobile G1".  It identifies correctly as "Q5" in Windows Explorer.  I have an SD card mounted for additional storage that behaves similarly.

If I attempt to sync to it, I get "0 bytes device (full after transfer)".  There's plenty of room, so this is incorrect.  However, I can sync to a desktop folder, then do the transfer in Windows Explorer without issue.

Thanks
nc-jay

Hiby R5 Gen 2 as shown at https://store.hiby.com/products/hiby-r5-gen-2

Vendor ID: 1478
Product ID:61443

Note: On my MC 30 windows installation MC 30 has been unable to sync a microSD card installed in the R5 II.  After detection, MC treats the device as one device but the internal storage and the microSD card are separately listed under Drives and Devices.  MC does not see the music files already on the MicroSD so it queues them for upload.  Then the upload fails file by file with "error" status.  If the microSD card is removed from the R5 and placed in a USB card holder then the sync process operates normally.  For the internal storage on R5 device, MC 30 is able to sync a smartlist in the normal way.
The inability to sync the microSD card while in the device is a problem since the R5 has to be removed from a very tight fitting leather case to be able to remove the card. Any ideas for a solution will be greatly appreciated.

I use VLC 3.3.12(447) as a DLNA client software on my iPad Pro 12.9(2021) running iOS 16.2.
I can see JRiver for Android on my Walkman and can select AUDIO -> ALBUM. Then all things seem to stop. I can't go further.

Of course, I can use JRiver for Android on my Walkman by using my PC's JRiver MC. Apparently, JRiver for Android is working.
Strangely, I can use JRiver for Android by using "mconnect Player Lite " on my iPad. But,  VLC, Oplayer lite、nPlayer Lite、and Evermusic are not working.

Am I doing anything wrong? Please advice.

I'll split this to a new thread.

You may have file types on the server that aren't supported on the Sony device.  You can set MC to convert.

Hi JimH, thanks for advice.

My situation is as follows;
My library is quite huge, consisting of ALAC(Apple Lossless) and FLAC, about 700GB on 1TB Sundisk microSDXC card.
When JRiver for Android initially boots up and starts to import folders, at the first time, VLC can read music for a while. But gradually as many folders imported, VLC can't handle. (display nothing)
Nevertheless, mconnect Player Lite can read JRiver for Android as I said before.
And if I use my PC version JRiver MC (26.0) as a DNLA client, I can handle JRiver for Android with no problem.
Not 100% satisfied, but I'm using JRiver for Android anyway.

Mine doesn't show a device name. What I have is a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra with 512GB storage and 12GB RAM. It's the Unlocked version. I have it on the T-Mobile Network.

Device info dump for 'JesseS23Ultra - Internal storage':
