I keep getting a message from Norton saying Media Center 32 does not have a valid digital signature. This is following the latest update which I installed yesterday. Should I be worried?

I'm not sure if I'm thinking of the right functionality here, but ...

I believe volume leveling was recently added for DLNA playback.  Normally, I listen to whole albums at a time, so I'm perfectly willing to adjust the volume on the living room system as needed.  (The computer is in the study, a distance away.)  However, I do have a few playlists that I like to put on shuffle from time to time.  For those, volume leveling would be handy!
hi
even the Eq , if you have some speakers more than 2 stereo ,and more than 1 amp ,it could be very useful

Have you tried the formatdate() function?

Hello,
I've been using Media Center for some time now and really like it except one thing. I was wondering if there is any plans to make the playlist view better. I use a Sony Walkman to play my music in my car so I also have Sony Music Center for PC on my computer and it's nowhere as good as Media Center except the for the Playlist view. Sony's Music Center is very unstable and I don't use it at all to play music but I really like the way they have the Playlist view. I've attached a couple of screen shots of both Sony's and MC31's Playlist view and was wondering if JRiver is working on improving the way the playlists are seen in the program. As you'll see the Sony version is much better. MC31 is very boring and generic looking. If there is an alternate version to view the playlist I'm not figured it out. If there is a setting to view the playlist the way Sony's is set up can you let me know how that works? Thanks!

I am no expert here, but I a have been wracking my brain for way to convert a unix timestamp to a human readable Date within JRiver. I've been trying to create a custom library field with a calculated function, but I am lost at this point.

The unix timestamp is in the filename, which I can isolate, but I cannot for the life of me figure out what combination of functions I can use to convert this to a date. I'm not even sure it's possible, but I feel like some maths could get me there, my brain is just fried thinking about it!

Tried searching, but now I am here!

Example:  C:\Users\jimh\AppData\Roaming\J River\Media Center 32\Library\Backup

You may also want to back up on your own before upgrading.  If you don't want your templates to be overwritten, then after you restore, manually edit the version in your current templates file (with a text file editor) to be Version="100.0" or some high number.  The templates file path is "C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\J River\Media Center 32\Library\theater view file info templates.xml" in Windows for a local library.  For a library server client, this has to be done on the server.  Note that if you do any editing of the templates in the MC dialog, it will revert to the current version when saved.

Yeah, this is not a success-oriented approach for the long term.

Unless, of course, JR is now taking Apple's approach of dictating to users.

The new templates are interesting to me in some scenarios.

But mostly, meh.

I'd prefer my prior data-focused templates instead of the new image-focused templates.

I'm not saying ~dump the image focused templates~

All I am saying is to support the more textual templates without having to jump through the backup/restore hoops.

Why can't the more textual, less image-oriented, templates be an option in the Theater View options area?

I did an upgrade of MC this afternoon (to 32.0.44 on Windows 10), and I lost the templates I had enabled.

I had to play the restore dance.

Really?  A software provider making users jump through hoops?

Is this what MC has come to, forcibly overriding user-set options?

imo, this is not a good path to go down....

My mistake on Audio Path. I thought he was sometimes getting playback, but, you are correct he is not. My mistake. Looking at Audio Path on MC28 would at least confirm that what he thinks is playing is actually playing. Just another piece of information.

I am a bit confused why it is being recommended that the OP check 'Audio Path', this will only show valid information if a file is playing AFAIK, in this case playback is failing to start on MC32 (see screenshot in original post).

I would suggest that to ensure that the settings are identical between MC28 & MC32, restore a library backup from MC28 to MC32 but check 'Settings only'.

I am also assuming that MC28 and MC32 are running on the same system.

If playback still can't be started on MC32 after doing the library restore from MC28 then I would suggest the best approach would be to turn on logging in both MC28 and MC32 (Help>Logging>Enable logging), initiate playback of the same file on MC28 & MC32 and post the resulting logs.

That makes sense, subtitles should be stretched as well if you use anamorphic rendering. I'll take a look next week.
Many thanks for this Hendrik its working fantastic and now looks correct!  :)
