I bought a
Lightify Starter Kit that has a ZigBee based wall wart hub and a smart LED bulb. $55 from Amazon.
After some fooling around, adding the hub to the WiFi network, it upgraded itself and then eventually found the light bulb. It's an ugly process but similar to most others.
Their Android app works well.
The bulb dims and changes colors. Similar to the Philips Hue.
Seems good so far.
