Questions about upsampling DSD64 to DSD128 in MC21
« on: September 30, 2015, 07:01:14 am »

When all is set and DSD chosen as encoder I still see that' Apply DSP effects' checkbox it is still available.
This makes me thinking that DSD upsampling is done via an intermediate PCM file.
Am I right?

Thanks in advance

Yes, all processing is done in PCM, including conversion from and to DSD formats.

Huge thanks :)

As a sidenote, Always DSD related, a little bit OT though, but I trust in your patience  ;)
My USB DAC is an Onkyo HA-200 not capable of natively decoding DSD, thus all of my DSD material will be converted by the player to PCM.
1)Should I transcode DSD->PCM in advance, rather than relying on realtime conversion (I don't think iPhone apps like Onkyo HF Player or alike will have a built-in Low Pass filter)?
2)In this case would it be the MC21 own Low Pass filter still active or should it have been triggered?

Thanks
