CD Burning for Mac
« on: November 05, 2015, 06:54:52 am »

Will we be getting CD burning capability in MC 21 for Mac?  If so, what's the timeline?

I don't work for, or speak for JRiver.   I'm just a customer.

I also don't know their plans, but I suspect this is a very low priority item.  In the mean time, there are numerous other CD burning programs for OS X, many of which are free.

I used to use "Burn" for occasional audio CD burning, but it seems to not support FLAC any more.  I don't really have much of a call to burn CDs anymore, so I haven't investigated further.  I'm sure you can find a suitable program with a little bit of research.  Or try Burn if you don't need to use FLACs.

Does anyone know of a program which will burn a regular CD (cda files) for use in a standard CD player which can be used with MC? I really miss this feature which is available on the Windows version of MC.

I should have linked to it earlier.  Burn:

Does audio CDs, data CDs and even video CDs.

Can someone from JRiver please chime in on the product roadmap for Mac?  Is there a plan to get the products to par across platforms or should I (we) expect that the same product will always have different core functionality on different operating systems?

Well, it takes a lot of time to develop everything so there's parity with MC's feature set across operating systems. I believe they're working on getting theater view working on Mac and Linux, among other things. It's getting there slowly, but there is progress.

Burning doesn't work on Linux either - there's no reading or ripping either there.

I don't work for JRiver... I help keep the forums safe from "male enhancements" and other sources of sketchy pharmaceuticals.

OK, a slightly different question about burning:

If I convert .mp3 files to .wav files, then drag and drop them to a thumb drive from my Mac Mini (using MC21 for Mac), can I then burn a CD-A on a PC?  I've tried it and it didn't work, and a friend tried it and it didn't work.  Did it not work because it won't work, or is there a trick I'm missing?
