Tagging user field seems to cause odd behavior for the user-tag.
« on: December 21, 2015, 05:23:30 pm »

I use the function "-[User]=[]" to hide files with no users assigned from one of my users. But recently (not sure when), this has stopped functioning properly. The library just stands there with "searching for files" showing, but nothing happening, and no files are ever shown. Any suggestions on what can be the cause?

My Media Center crashed when I put that search in.  Doh!

We'll sure take a look in the debugger tomorrow.

Thanks, I just remembered i also did some testing with tagging the user-field, that might be related in my case

The search is working fine at work!  I'll have John test too when he's in.

I loaded my home library using Library Server so the library should be exactly the same.  And it still works fine.  Darn it!

Now testing on my home computer and it's fine.  So I won't even get a crash dump.

Would you be willing to test the latest?  Maybe it magically fixed itself.

It didn't magically fix itself, but if i remove the expression totally, the user only shows the files that are NOT tagged with any users. (that includes the files tagged with the user selected, to exemplify I have user A and user B, neither with any expressions in "file to show", file 1 (user=A), file 2 (user=B), file 3 (no user), selecting user A shows only file 3, selecting user B shows only file 3, selecting administrator shows all 3 files.)

I think this is somehow related to my test of tagging the user field. The problem started at the same time:

But it also manifests itself with new users, and files that are not tagged to the file, just in the database.

I did some testing on another computer with another library, and oddly enough the same seems to be the problem there, very nice if someone can verify that this is a problem on my end, not with the newest versions.

So, if you tag a file with a user, does it disappear from the views of that user? (21.0.30)

Ok, now i installed MC on a totally "fresh" PC at work, just to check. Same problem

1. Install MC (all setting default)
2. Import new files
3. Add user "A"
4. Press tag button
5. Choose user "A"
6. In the user menu choose user "A"
7. All files with no users visible, files with user A invisible.

Very nice if someone can try to reproduce this, and see if the same happens. This is not the way the program is supposed to behave, right?

I can't reproduce any hiding of files.

I'm just looking at a regular library view.  I set some files to user "A" and they stay right there with all the other files.

I did just reproduce trouble with the user field being honored properly.

We had changed the user searching in a past build, but didn't update the user searching inside the actual user account.

That'll be fixed next build:
Fixed: Picking users accounts wasn't working.

Top notch. Hopefully my initial problem gets solved by the update as well :)
