Is there a way to print a list of movies? Like a catalogue

yes

What I do for a List of my Album's is make a smartlist to include just one track per Album, then select all tracks go File=>Export Playlist then choose either the HTML or Text (CSV) options depending on what you want to do with it. So for a movie you could do something similar by setting up the smartlist rules so the output is what you want. If needed you can then reformat using Excel, Word or an HTML editor of some kind.

I find it easier to reduce the number of columns you see beforehand first. Play around with it a couple of times, and you'll find the simplest way for you. (then you can choose show only "visible fields")

I have not found a way to export the icon for the media art however ... this would be nice to have the album cover or movie art for the "catalogue" instead of just Text.

Anyone have a work around for this?

I've thought about mentioning this for a while:

If you are in Standard View and have a file folder open, and you click on File>Print List it will print the current view (works for Audio-files, Video-files, Image-files)

However the "File>Print List" includes all the columns in that file-folder view. So if you want to print to print a list of just Movie names using the File>Print List you can't, it gives you everything shown (and that adds a lot of extra pages to the print).

FEATURE REQUEST: A better "print list" tool would be to have check boxes next to all each column name then you could check off the ones you want to include in the printout. It would also be nice if you could narrow the print range based on Media Sub Type (like only print Movies or only print TV Shows). I know you can temporary removing those columns you don't want to include in the print but that's a bunch of extra steps.
So please consider the check box idea or something similar to allow one to pick what to include in the print.

Why you do this through File=>Export Playlist rather than Print=>List. There are options for selection range and/or visible fields. Basically what you want is there already except the checkboxes. Print List is pretty limited, probably been around from the old days.

There is no way to export the thumbnails though, which is what I was on about.

Thanks for the tip/instructions Arindelle, I'm going to use your method until something better comes along.

But that method requires a lot of steps too. It's nice that you can export the data to a cvs file and then modify/delete what you want in Excel. I found that I need to select "All Fields" and Output range = "All" get the two fields/tags I find useful (Movie Name and File Type), then open the cvs file in Excel and delete what I don't need. This is a good work around until the "Print List" is improved (if ever).

But if MC has a "File>Print" button, why not make it more user friendly?

IMO, the way the Print List feature is currently coded it doesn't do a very good job. Just saying :)

sure no problem :)

what I do now is set up a smartlist (find a a criterion where only one file will be outputted - eg only show track 1 from an album, might have to get clever with a film that doesn't have just 1 mkv file for example or you'd get multiple line items I suppose). Then all you have is say a couple of "columns". Maybe Genres. Then set to show only visible and its pretty much done.

I'd like the artwork to show up then I could output it directly into HTML and put it on a web page.

As it is now I have to reformat it and save to PDF which is a pain I agree. I'd never actually print this -- I'd have hundreds of pages that change monthly. But the smarlist does keep it up do date once set up.
