No it is JRiver gone wild. When I first start JRiver before I pick a song to play I go to my pc volume control and make sure it is set on 50, that is half volome and I know it will not blow me out of the room when the song starts. But now, even though the volume is set on 50, when I click on a song JRiver automatically turns the volume up to 100. If I can't get this fixed JRiver is useless to me.

This is intentional when using an exclusive-mode audio output, so that JRiver handles all DSP, instead of letting Windows adjust the volume.
You can disable it in the device settings, but the sound quality will be better if you use JRiver's internal volume control.

It is intentional, but it is non-default. You can disable this behavior, and you must have (at some point) enabled it.

It is called Maximize device volume during playback, and it is found in the WASAPI device options:
http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/WASAPI
http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Exclusive_access
http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Maximize_device_volume

As mentioned by RD James, it would be better to leave this on, and enable JRiver's Internal Volume control. The feature works very nice, and automatically puts the system volume back where it was when playback stops (so you don't get blasted out by system sounds). There is more detail in the WASAPI articles linked above, and in the Volume article:

Thanks everybody~~~~Everything is back to normal~~~I did this to myself when I selected Kef 300A speakers and maximize volume during playback. It was suppose to give me better sound quality, but who wants the volume to be all the way to max right out of the gate every time. The first time I played a song it just about gave me a heart attack. Anyway thank you very much for your help.
