Media Center 9.1.239 beta available
« on: August 25, 2003, 02:16:52 pm »

Please read carefully before downloading.

This is BETA software.  If you expect things to work, please download the latest 9.0 build from this thread:

http://www.musicex.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=MediaCenter;action=di splay;num=1054751628

If you're patient and willing to help find the bugs, you can download 9.1 here:

ftp://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/music/MediaCenter91239.exe    (backup your library before installing)

NOTE:  Please report only known problems in this thread.   If you want to discuss changes in the UI, please use another thread.

History:
1. Fixed: PixOS didn't have "Back" image in Action Window. (note: art for PixOS and other skins will be updated later)
2. Fixed: MC would start synchronous playback for playlists containing only images and videos. (which doesn't make sense)
3. Fixed: Dropping files on a playlist list could add the files in reversed order.
4. Fixed: Removing a file from a playlist would remove all occurrences of that track, instead of just the selected ones.
5. Fixed: Some list control selection quirks. (removes workaround for Windows list "select - quick scroll - ignore scroll" bug)
6. Fixed: Multi-select didn't always work properly in the panes.
7. Fixed: Pane selection was not properly preserved when entering and leaving tagging mode.
8. Fixed: Action Window page didn't always save properly between sessions.
9. Changed: Filled template cleaning (player view, db fields, etc.) wouldn't allow a leading minus.
10. Fixed: Display when gapless playback switches tracks makes more sense. (because of #9)
11. Fixed: Media Center would not exit properly. (fixes several problems with state saving)
12. Fixed: On startup Action Window header would appear after a short delay instead of right away.
13. Changed: Updated Action Window auto-sizing so it resizes less when switching pages if space is available.
14. NEW: Hairstyle supports skin selectable list selected text color. (all default skins updated)
15. Fixed: Auto-sizing of Action Window > Statistics pages didn't work properly.
16. Fixed: MC would jump to the foreground when switching to a new video file.
17. Fixed: After changing fonts, the Action Window and tooltips wouldn't update properly until MC was restarted.
18. Changed: MC less aggressive about showing / selecting the playing file in "Playing Now".
19. Fixed: When starting MC in Playing Now, the playing file wouldn't always be visible.

Metamorphis : This isn't honoring the "Background" Subcolor item for Menus. All mini-me menus are defaulting to white (I think it's white) no matter what color is specified in the skin.

1.   Bug... When converting file, the old file is removed from the Library... Can this be fixed to have both files in the Library??

2.   Properties used to be seperated by type if you are looking at all properties. Now it's one long list.... Can we have an option to have the properties grouped?

Also it seems as if Converting is slower in this build...

Bug with Playlists in Action Window:

When drag and dropping from panes on right, the order is slightly scrambled. The first song in the pane is always at the bottom of the list.

Also updating of the Action window is sometimes flaky with playlists - I had one occurence where the AW told be there were (10 files - 74:35) but none were printed in the AW (couldn't reliably reproduce it).

Lists in Action Window always reserve an empty space on the right for a scrollbar - although there's no scrollbar present...

Ok, just a pat on the back--I love what you guys are doing with this.  The action window is shaping up nicely, but one of the things I really love is the ability to make mass tag changes in that customizable window scheme you've got above the file fields  (didn't realize what I could do with it until I just imported some new tunes into my library, and got a great view scheme for my recently downloaded songs which you guys must of put in as a default, now I'm tinkering with it and loving it) and the action window looks better every time I download the latest build.  Awesome!

Nice list of bug-fixes.

However, when you press the back button on the AW  when it's hidden, it shows itself again. Is this supposed to happen?

Bug 1

Using this view scheme......

Custom View scheme.

Name = last 28 days
image = Scheme
behaviour = bottom of tree (populate & use parent unchecked)
Files = [Date Imported]=<=40320

Panes are....
1. Location (root)
2. File Type
3. Artist
4. Album
5. Date
6. Genre
7. Comment
8. Image File

Tagging Mode is not making all possible options available.
It appears to be limiting the the tagging options to only those entries
available if <all> were selected in pane 1.

So, if you select <all> in pane 1, select a few files, enter tagging mode,

There are no "---other values---" made available.

If you select an artist, (using the pane, not the file list), the list correctly
filters and displays the chosen artists files. Now select a few of those and enter tagging mode.

Now we do have "---other values---", but only the values that have been filtered out of <all>
are shown.

Bug 2

Set the action window to show "file playlists" (not "playlists"), then close/open MC.
Action window displays a single icon with the text "playlists" beside it, and nothing else.
The only way to populate the file playlists window is to go "home" or back, then call up
file playlists again.
Then, it will display the tree groups and all their plusses. opening a group (click on the (+))
expands, but the AW does not. So it's too small to be of any use. So, go backwards, then forwards again,
and, finally, we have the playlist tree populated, expanded, and in an AW tall enough to be usable.

For a long time now, there is a playing now bug that's been bothering me quite much. I believe it happens when you have MC configured to start with the last used view.

Reproduce:
- Add all music to playing now.
- Play number 100 for instance (doesn't really matter which song you're playing, as long as it's not the top 5 or something)
- Close MC
- Start it again
In playing now, the highlighted file isn't in focus! You have to switch to another view and back to get it right...

This bug dont happen when you drag and drop the file right on the player.

I am not sure if you have checked this setting but . . . .
You may try: TOOLS -->> OPTIONS -->> GENERAL:
BEHAVIOR -->> DOUBLE CLICK
then you can choose what happens when you
double-click (add, replace, etc)

BUG?

Streaming media should go silent when buffering, NOT sound like a jack-hammer or machine-gun in your head playing the last bits repeatedly.

If you lose your connection this can go on forever . . .
really annoying when using headphones or when in bed.

Ripping a CD (wich was tagged manually) in "Windows Media VBR - Normal/High" mode without Right Managment and the option to name the ripped files "[Artist] - [Name]" gives every file the Name "[Artist] - [Name] #". The Files are tagged quiet right. Also using the libary tool "Rename files from properties" doesn't have an effekt. "[Artist] - [Name]" are not interpreted  as variables but as string, I think.

Just tested with mp3 File... Same behaivor when using the "Rename files from properties". Didn't test ripping.

Am I doing something wrong, or is there something wrong ?

BUG - leftover menus.  Sometimes I'll right click something, make a selection in the popup menu and although the action is carried out, the right click menu remains on the screen and I must click somewhere else before it goes away.

For example - I have Properties shown in the docked Action Window.  I right click in the window and get the popup menu where I can select "Show as Window" which I select.

The Action Window does to to a undocked window, but the right click popup menu remains on my screen and I must click somewhere else to make it go away.

This happens all over MC.

BUG - When MC is shutdown (normally), a MC icon remains in the Windows taskbar tray.  They go away if the mouse if moved over them.  This problem was for this build and the previous build.

1) The "Home" button in the action window is still missing.

2) The "close" button in the action window should probably change to "restore" when the action window is minimized.  Currently you have to click the "close" button to bring back the action window- that's very contraintuitive.

3)When using ASIO for streaming web content, switching stations causes stuttering and occasionally crashes.

4) MC downloads *.rm files instead of streaming them
This is an old bug.

5) I also liked selective text for tool bar buttons.

6)Ease of Use Suggestion: Pictures of buttons should be in menues to the lefte of the corresponding action.
