I noticed that MC has the capability to "Import Playlist" from (among other things) "My Movies XML file".
It seems that there is an app https://www.mymovies.dk/ which apparently allows you to catalog your movies offline, then export its library as XML, and then import that into MC..
Maybe somebody from JRiver can explain it further ??

I noticed this too and already have my DVD collection in My Movies.
But after exporting from My Movies as XML and using Import Playlist in MC all it does in import the xml file as an object and does not parse the contents.
Obviously I am either doing something wrong or misunderstanding the purpose of this feature.

Can someone at JRiver please comment on this feature? What is if for? How should it work?

That is interesting. I used to do it this way up until 6 months ago, where I dropped it and exclusively started using MC for Movie information.

I used it because My Movies were able to scrape in my local language and way back just did better scraping tham MC. It worked just as described, export to a XML file in My Movies and import as a playlist in MC. It worked really well.

I seem to remember that there is a setting in My Movies that may influence the result, but I don't have the software installed anymore to check this.

Should also say, that this was with My Movies version 4. The current version is 5.

So is it possible to import a xml playlist/database of movies into JRiver, so that it populates its own library with these movies?
And if so how?
When one tries to do it, it just import a text file, that of the playlist.

It was possible with My Movies 4. I did it for years. Don't know if the current version 5 works.

All I had to do was to import the XML file generated with My Movies as a Playlist. I would guess the XML file would have to be in a specific format for this to work, but cannot provide any details about that.

We started supporting MyMovies xml file many versions ago.

Yes, you can just import the xml file as a playlist.

When you export a JRiver playlist as xml and try to reimport it back, it doesn't seem to work: it just imports a text file, not something that acts like a playlist.

The xml file I was talking about has to be MyMovies xml file.  We give it special treatment.

Hi Guys.

I have my offline DVD collection cataloged in MyMovies.
When I export it as XML then import it into MC21 using "import playlist" all it does is import the xml as a file and does not process the data contained in the file.
Is this feature broken or am I doing something wrong?

I just found how to make it work  

First, you need a mpl playlist like those that JRiver gives you.
Second, you need to have Media Network enabled.
Then within JRiver you can do "Import playlist" and NOW it works!

In a text editor, slightly edit your xml file so that it looks like a mpl playlist,
