I'd like to see a basic notification system added.
There are some important information i'd like to keep track of.
As well as msg/email me if there is a critical issue.

I've wanted something like this. But the more i use the TV feature the more i thinks it's needed.
For example I recently had some problems with a tuner adaptor for my cable card.
But i only found out because. I happen to catch the popup window that disappears when there is a recording problem.
This should have been a huge red flag for me. So i could have fixed it sooner.

Here are some of the things i would like to keep track of.

• jriver shutting down
• Recordings that are expected to happen but not found in the Guide data
• Failed recordings
• Files deleted or missing

100% agree, especially failed recordings and MC crashes.

I agree this is a crucial feature to have.  I do a poor man's approximation of this for WMC by creating tasks that trigger on event entries in WMC's event log and the triggered task runs a script that sends me an e-mail of the event log entry so I can take corrective action.  Has several times allowed me to e.g. set up a recording of a re-run of a show that failed to record.
