I succesfully instaled the driver for Rio 500, using Media Center 9, but everytime I try to copy/transfer files to the device, I get a static screen and a message of "windows has encounteres a problem and has to shut down media core". Í'd like to know if someone had a solution and uses Diamond Rio 500 well with the software. Thanks.

What version of MC 9 do you have installed?  Does your static screen occur after you select "Upload" from the transfer queue dialog?

If so, you most likely have drivers for the Rio installed that are incompatible with the plugin. The plugin installs compatible drivers automatically, but for it to work you must remove your other drivers first. Here are the instructions from Rio for removing drivers...


To work well with MJ you need to get the Rio drivers installed that come with the MJ Plugin...

Also uninstall the Rio Plugin for MJ. Make sure your Rio is disconnected and reboot.

After you reboot and BEFORE you connect your Rio, download the MJ Rio plugin. When you connect your Rio if your OS asks if you want to install the default drivers, DO NOT accept the default, instead, point the installation to look in your System32 directory where it will find the drivers that we distribute with the Plug-in.

YOU MUST LOG IN ONCE AND THEN REBOOT AND LOG IN AGAIN TO GET THIS TO WORK.

After this, you should be set.

Thanks for your help. I tried to proceed according to Rio orientation to remove its drivers, but I couldn't get to the part referring to System Information, because I didn't find the option "Audio Compression Codecs". Do you have any further way to try to help me unistall it.
Because when I plugged it again, Windows automatically recovered its driver and put it under the USB at the Device manager.
My version of MD is 9.0, upgraded until now. And the error comes when I click on Rio 500 or when I try to Upload FIles, as you asked me.

Audio Codecs can be found in Device Manager under Sound, video and game controllers for XP.  If you got as far as that you are probably OK. When you say Windows automatically recovered the driver, do you mean it did not ask you where to get the driver? If so, then it was never fully uninstalled.

I think you're right about the hardware/driver uninstallation. I couldn't perform it as you told me, because the system keeps recovering the previous information about Rio and I'm not able to use it with the MediaCenter that I have bought almost 1 week ago. I have sent the following email to SOnicBLue, and I hope they will help me in some way. Thank you for your help, and if you have any further information you think might be helpful, please send it to me.
The software is detecting the device (Rio), but when I click on it, it takes very long to respond, and then gets me a message of "low virtual memory". Then, when I click on Upload files or any area below the screen (where there's a small area with the files listed), I have the message "Media Core found a problem and need to close....).

I have a Rio500 Diamond and I'm trying to make it work properly with Media Center 9.0.
I've been oriented to unistall completely the hardware and try to install it again with the driver indicated by the software company.

 I'm not allowed to remove the hardware. Everytime I plug it in, Windows XP automatically includes RioPort.Com Rio 500 under the USB devices at DEVICE MANGER, and I don't want that. I want to indicate the new driver for it. When I try to update or unistall the driver, the system manager stops working (Not Responding). I war using the Real One Player software, but i have deleted from my system, because I imagined that it was a substitute to Rio Audio Manager.
How can you help me ? Is there any step that I may have forgotten ? There's one thing that I must say: I noticed that the files rio8drv.sys and riodrv at windows/system32 return automatically after I delete it. When I plug the hardware, they appear again.
