JRiver playing through Oppo BDP105
« on: August 07, 2016, 01:32:19 am »

Hi,
Just interested if anyone is streaming their digital content through an an Oppo
BDP105 and if you have any issues. I am considering purchasing this model to replace
A Yamaha BD A100 Which is not very user friendly as far as User Interface etc is concerned.Interested to hear of any opinions in regard to known or experienced limitations etc.

We use our Oppo BDP 105 almost daily as a "zone" in MC for all media coming out of the HTPC via MC. Works perfectly.

The only thing the Oppo does not do, is display album art or meta data for transcoded audio..

Hi there,
I'm just curious...when you say "streaming" through the Oppo 105, are you meaning USB connection to the rear asynch DAC, or are you referring to network streaming on ethernet (DLNA)? I have an Oppo 105D that I am struggling with because I can't get MC to see it as a renderer on the network. I have to work through some firewall issues and some other items before I can remedy the problem.
Regards,
Pat

Yup. (My Oppo shows up just fine in MC).

A few points..

  • In the Oppo Setup menu, there is a page for setting / testing the internet connectivity.
  • Make sure that both your PC and the Oppo have IP addresses on the same subnet as your router is able to route. Usually it is easiest if both devices get their IP addresses automatically assigned from your router via DHCP
  • Check that MC has Media Networking (Media Server) turned on.
  • Check that your PC has no firewall or anti virus blocking MC from accessing the LAN
