Getting multichannel audio via JRiver from Netflix
« on: November 25, 2016, 03:01:15 am »

I'm using the windows 8.1 Netflix app, apparently it's meant to default to 5.1 audio where it is available. It's not obvious what "where it is available" really means and it's not working in my case. I know the jriver wdm driver supports multichannel audio because you can configure it in the audio panel and it does show multiple channels coming through. However if I look at the properties then it says a max of 2 channels is supported. This makes me wonder whether the netflix app looks at this to determine what the device is capable of and hence defaults to a stereo setup.

If so, can the jriver wdm driver report its capabilities correctly?

or is there something else going on? does anyone have this working?

Perhaps under Advanced "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" ??

Perhaps under Advanced "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" ??
it is checked

(I realise this might be a netflix "feature" btw as opposed to jriver doing something wrong)
