I'd like to be able to rename the files that get written during a Handheld Sync.
How files are named on disk doesn't matter much when you're using MC. Just metadata gets used, which is fantastic.
However, when writing files out for use on devices like car radios or portable media players the way files are named can really affect functionality.
There is a Library Tool called "Rename, Move and Copy Files..." that has this ability. You can use this to specify a template for the files.
However, this doesn't work when the media is being sync using a client session of MC from a library hosted on another PC.
The Handheld Sync options for a device already support a lot of templates, and one of them is 'Audio Path'. This supports a pathname template, but does not support a filename template. At least not last time I checked in MC 22.
The scenario for this is other family members in the house are using MC clients connected to the main MC library. They're creating their own playlists and syncing to their own devices, without having to store/manage all of the media. But each of their devices has different needs for how the tracks need to be named. Removing 'the' prefix articles, putting a Track# as the first part of the filename, shortening ones that might be 'too long' for the player to handle, etc.
I'm asking for filename template support for the Audio path in the Handheld Sync function.
