How should Mac MC access files on my new NAS?
« on: October 12, 2017, 07:28:23 am »

Just purchased a Qnap TS-451+ NAS and have moved all of my audio files onto it. At this stage I just want to run MC on laptop and use the NAS as a storage drive. What's the best way to point MC to these files? I'm extremely inexperienced with this. Sorry

I'm setting up a NAS today and plan on mapping the drive to my PC. That allows you to use it like any drive in your computer.

I'm pretty sure these are the steps for Windows:
Open Explorer

Click on "Network" on the left

Right click on the new NAS and choose Map Network Drive. (if you have created multiple volumes in the NAS then go to the volume you want to use.)

You will need to use your NAS logon credentials. Make sure to check the box to "Log on at Startup" or something like that.

If those aren't correct they are close. Just google "Map network drive" and there will be videos I'm sure.
