I am transfering 25 Gigs of MP3 to my 30 Gig Ipod.
It started at 4.9 MB/s estimating 10 hours
After an hour it jumped to 6.89 MB/s estimating 6 hours
Now an hour latter it has jumped to to 12.4 MB/s estimating 3 hours left.
Is this normal?
Why the increasing speed?
What is the fastest speed possible?
Any idea's on how to start at the fastest speed?

If you are synching playlists, you probably have the same song in multiple playlists. These files are only transferred one time, so as the duplicates are skipped, the speed will increase.  The fastest speed possible is controlled by your hardware. The software is pretty optimized to do the transfers as quickly as possible.

I average about 8-9 mb/s for songs not already on my ipod.  As Steve mentioned, if the song is already there, MC9 blazes through those insanely fast--so fast in fact that I just synch all the time, rather than adding a song here and there--synching is just so darned fast, even if you're only adding a few songs, it's just as easy to synch, IMHO.

When you synch, make sure you aren't multitasking--just run the synch, that's it.  That  (at least on my computer) is really about the only thing that makes a difference on speed of transfer...
