I was watching the Superbowl live on my Server, while recording it also.
Stopped live tv on the Server, recording continued.
Gave some friends a ride and came home.
Went upstairs to a Client, went to Tv Shows, pressed Play on the Superbowl show.
It started playback at Live Tv and the FINAL game score popped up on the screen! Kinda ruining the end of the game for me!
I wanted to start watching from where I left off watching on the Server, or at least from the beginning and then I could FF to the correct spot.
I ended up stopping playback and called it a night.
The next day, after the recording had finished, I was able to play back the back from the beginning.

Is there a setting or secret or method to start playback of a currently recording show from the beginning, not live tv?

How did you start watching it (Standard view, theater view etc.)?

It should start at the beginning of recording (or where you left it if you previously watched part of it).  There is one exception though.  If you watch it by double-clicking the channel in Standard view, you are telling MC that you want to watch the channel live.  In other words, there is a difference between "watching a channel" and "watching a program (or a recording)".

I originally started watching the channel Live on the Server an hour before the game started recording. I pressed stop a little bit after the half time show. Recording continued.


When I came back, I went to a Client and watched from Shows > Series > selected Super Bowl > pressed play (so not the guide). Playback started right at the end of the game, basically the Live position.


I guess next time I have to stop watching Live on Server soon after the recording starts, then go to Shows > Series > select Super Bowl > press play. Then when I stop playback on the Server and come back later, the Client will pickup from there.

I have seen in the past where sometimes (rarely), bookmarks aren't saved.  It doesn't seem to matter if it is live TV (while recording), or just watching a recorded program.  Doesn't happen very often, but it does happen.
